Lady Bug-Quaint Caroga Cottage-100 Steps to Lake!
Quaint Rustic Cottage in Charming Caroga Lake -100 Steps to Lake (not on lake)
Description
Ladybug is quaint, lovely little 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom cottage that sleeps up to 5-6 people comfortably, and is just 100 steps to a shared private, deeded beach on Caroga Lake. The house is not located on the water, but on a quiet street in the rustic, sleepy, charming village of Caroga in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. The cottage is old and campy, but very clean and lovingly decorated with vintage antiques and furniture and peppered with modern amenities. The space The house has a large stone fireplace and several antique wood and cook's stoves, all for decorative purposes only (do not use). Although we don't have cable TV, we do have a DVD/VHS player connected to a TV, with some amazing old DVDs and VHS tapes for your viewing pleasure. We also have some comfy chairs and a rocker to curl up in on a rainy day to watch a movie, read a good book or play one of the many board games available. The kitchen is well stocked with a refrigerator, electric stove, and plenty of pots pans, dishes, utensils and cooking utensils, as well as a blender, a toaster, a toaster oven, a coffee maker and grinder, and a tea kettle. There is no microwave, but we don't miss it with the toaster oven and stove. There is also no dishwasher, but there is a drying rack next to the country style kitchen sink, and another sink located on the back porch. The shower/tub, toilet and bathroom are just off the back porch off the kitchen. Both bedrooms are upstairs. The Twin Room has two single/twin beds, a dresser, desk, bedside tables. The Full Room has a full bed sleeping one to two people. It also has a trundle bed with two twin beds, sleeping one person on top and one below comfortably, a dresser, desk and bedside table. IMPORTANT NOTE: linens are not provided (please bring sheets, pillowcases and towels). If necessary, you may rent linens ($15 per person to pay housekeeper to go to laundromat, etc.). This is a three season cabin, so there is NO central heating and no air conditioning. On chilly nights, you may use the space heaters, simply put on extra clothes and use some of our extra blankets available. Please remember, there is no heat in the cabin and Adirondack nights can get quite cool, even at the end of summer. In the summer, when its hot, we find opening the upstairs windows generally cools the place right down as you get the mountain breeze and breeze off the lake. On those few very hot days, you can use the fans in each bedroom and in the downstairs closet, as well as the window fans in each bedroom window. Lady Bug has large, screened in front and back porches with some vintage wicker chairs and comfortable throw pillows to enjoy the view from the front or back of the house. On the back porch, guests can take in the sunset over the lake through the trees and our neighbor's houses. Outside, there is a picnic table, a BBQ, seats facing the lake to enjoy the view and sunsets and a fire pit with several Adirondack chairs, as well as the working well supplying water for Lady Bug, housed in its own charming well house. Although it goes without saying, guests may not under any circumstances climb or sit on the well, as it is an active well. Guest access The whole house is yours and a small private backyard. The lake access is shared with neighbors. Other things to note The fireplace is for decorative purposes only- please do not use or start a fire in the house. Please note the weather and bring cozy clothes if appropriate. Linens are not included but may be rented for a fee. Please remember this is a rustic cottage in the Adirondacks. It is not a resort in a resort town. If you love being in nature and the quiet beauty of our area, the house is awesome! If you are looking for more plush accommodations, please let me know. This house may not be for you but we do have others! I hope you will visit.
