Description
The secluded and captivating La Casita de Baclayon (Orchid and Tamsi Suites), nestles in rainforest above the town of Baclayon overlooking the Bohol Sea. It is a 20 minute walk to Baclayon Pier where boats leave for idyllic Pamilacan Island. The sunny and spacious Tamsi Suite, wrapped by a large balcony, overlooks La Casita’s forest and out to sea to stunning Pamilacan Island. Native flora and fauna, including fireflies in trees on still nights, can be seen close by . The space Set in 1.5 ha of tropical forest overlooking the Bohol Sea, La Casita is beautiful and tranquil. The boutique Eco B&B, a reinterpreted Filipino ‘Bahay Kubo’, is a secluded space to escape the rigours of everyday life. In our efforts to create a sustainable environment in harmony with nature, we are able to develop and support livelihood programs to be of benefit to many communities within Baclayon and Bohol. The house is designed and decorated to give guests a genuine experience of living in Bohol. The living areas are open plan and exposed to the sea breezes, with large indoor ponds which also negate the need for air conditioning and ensuring comfort and a peaceful and relaxed ambience in a very natural setting. There is also a beautiful bali hut in the garden, ideal for reading and relaxation. Guest access Guests are welcome to utilise all the open living areas of the house, as well as the garden, and have access to internet, television, and other facilities. We do not provide facilities for guests to cook their own food. We do provide substantial breakfasts with great vegan and vegetarian options, and additional and delicious meals at modest cost at are available at our Chido Cafe, approximately 3 kilometres away. We are happy to provide transport there. We also provide a laundry service (washed by hand and dried outside) for a small fee. During your stay We are available to assist and advise guests in organising and arranging any tours and activities whilst in Bohol. We take pride in being available to help guests with their needs during their entire stay at our home but also understand and appreciate when guests may prefer privacy and to make their own arrangements. Other things to note We do have a number of dogs and cats, including some rescue dogs and cats. We do our very best of course to ensure they are in no way a nuisance to our guests. We kindly request that you inform us in advance if you have any allergies caused by pets so that we may be able to take appropriate precautions. We also have two large internal ponds as well as open living areas which do mean that the house is not suitable for small children. There is stockpile of metal for repairs of a barangay road about a quarter of a kilometre from the house. A backhoe will fill trucks intermittently. This usually takes 2-3 hours, during the day. A house and warehouse are being built in the same area and are due to be completed november 2023. The flow of HOT water in the shower can fluctuate. Water flow from the Barangay water catchment is slow. Despite installing a pressure pump, we still have variations at times in flow of water through the water heater. As our house is open plan, and we are surrounded by trees, it is not possible to control all insects coming into the house. For example, ants will be attracted by food if left in the room, but the many geckos on the walls are great for keeping insect numbers down.
