Description

The Old Shack is a tastefully renovated self-catered cottage, which has an abundance of unique character for couples to sit back, relax, slow down and unwind. To watch our YouTube clip, copy and paste the link into your web browser. ?v=lDPF8rkk3fQ The space Set on 26 acres, nestled in its own valley with Cattai Creek meandering through, there is only one guest cottage so you can be assured of your privacy. You can explore the bush walking track or take a short stroll to the wharf and launch the canoe on Cattai Creek. It is an easy paddle downstream (4km) to the Hawkesbury River where you can picnic at Cattai National Park. The creek has a 4-knot speed zone which should ensure paddlers are not disturbed by speeding watercraft. Sorry no children or pets. The Old Shack was built around 1890 by the first landowner. It slowly fell into disrepair as a result of termite damage, fire and disuse. As the renovations took place, we got a little carried away, creating the distinctive retreat that you see today. Location The Old Shack is located at Cattai, New South Wales on the tidal section of Cattai Creek, approximately 60 minutes North West from Sydney CBD. Vehicle Access There is about 800 metres of maintained gravel driveway to The Old Shack which is suitable for all standard vehicles. Things to Do • Use your fire lighting skills for heating the plunge pool for an evening soak while watching the stars. • Curl up in front of the open fire. • Light the wood fired oven for cooking pizzas or a roast. • Take the canoe or rowboat for a paddle on the creek. • Go for a drive on the River Road as it winds down and along the river and have lunch at Wisemans Ferry or keep on going to St Albans and stop at The Great North Road Convict Trail to see a bit of history. • If you like a game of golf, bring your clubs with you and have a tee off at Riverside Oaks Golf Resort or Lynwood Country Club. • If this all too much, just sit back on the deck chairs and read a book or magazine from the bookcase, have a game of chess, do a puzzle or watch a DVD from our selection.
