Description
Located in the Lost World part of the famous Scenic Rim Region, we are within 75 minutes from Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Our 270 acre farm offers the genuine luxury hideaway experience. Easy access to many Scenic Rim attractions. You get the entire farm to yourself. Just you, the sound of the native birds and our cattle. Dog owners: please read our info under “your property” The space Watch the sunset turn the skies pink as smoke rises from the firepit in your private terrace area, under grapevines. There are no city sounds, just the crackle of firewood and afternoon bird calls. Maybe the occassional "moo" of grazing cattle. Indulge in an open-air hot bath or shower under the stars, and realise how soft rainwater is compared to the city. For kids it’s all about being outdoors. Collecting twigs for the fire, roasting marshmallows or exploring the creek. Depending on what's in season they can help you pick lemons, mandarins, mangoes, mulberries, grapes, persimmons, macadamias or oranges. There are several tracks which loop around the cabin. The hills will get your heart pumping. Watch for the pretty faced wallaby, grazing cattle and a big variety of bird life - from tiny native finches, to quails and king parrots and even a pair of local wedge tailed eagles. Or just laze away the day on the oversize deck, reading that book you’ve promised yourself. When you're done with outdoors, retreat inside to our newly renovated cabin. We are mostly off grid with the exception of mains power - which means things like toasters, hair dryers and air conditioners aren't a problem. Hot water is via a gas on demand system, fed by large gas bottles at the rear. Our water is via our rain tank and is 100% natural and not otherwise treated. We happily drink it (and prefer it to city water). You will find everything you need in our kitchen - from the full size Haier fridge, to a two burner gas cook top, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, kettle, toaster and Nespresso coffee pod machine. All the necessary crockery and cutlery is provided. There's a 4 burner gas BBQ with side burner on the deck. The luxury bathroom and toilet is fully tiled and the shower features a rain head shower rose. Towels are provided. The lounge features one super comfy 3 seater and one single seat leather sofas. We have a TV/DVD but there is no TV signal. There’s a range of DVDs and board games. There's no internet (you can usually get a signal on the deck if you’re with Telstra). This is a chance to temporarily escape from the city and our guests love it. When it's time for rest, our cabin features 2 air-conditioned bedrooms - one with a Queen size bed, the other with twin singles. New beds with quality linen will feel wonderful as you slip under the covers. Large windows let the wonderful views in and blockout curtains keep the light out if sleeping in is your priority. Our massive deck is the place to kick back around the outdoor table, while you cook locally raised bacon and eggs (you can purchase from Tommerups Dairy Farm nearby) on the full-size BBQ. Or you can venture down to the adjoining terrace area, where you'll find another outdoor dining area complete with wood fired pizza oven under the grapevine covered pergola. We provide firewood for the pizza oven and firepit but you are very welcome to collect your own from around the property. After two or three nights of this, you'll feel like you've been away for a week. Stay longer for a complete urban detox. We hope you enjoy that feeling of serenity and calm which The Farm at Duck Creek seems to confer on its visitors. Dog owners... We love dogs and would like to keep our cabin pet friendly but this depends on you. It is a condition of booking our farm that dogs are not allowed on the bed or lounge. Please clean up after them around the cabin. We also request that you don’t leave your dog unattended at the cabin. When outside the cabin fence they should be on a lead for everyone's safety. If it’s wet or your dog has been for a swim in the creek, please hose them off and bring an old towel to dry them off before coming inside. There is a small pet cleaning fee of $50 (any damage may incur a fee) If you feel your furry family member will struggle to follow these rules, sorry our farm is not for you. Thanks for your understanding Guest access We will be in touch 48 hours prior to your stay with directions and how to access the farm. Plus a liability waiver which you will need to agree to given it is a working farm with its inherent risks. SUV/4WD access preferable. 2WD after heavy wet weather can be an issue, please message us. Access is not suitable for sportcars or vehicles with lowered ground clearance. Other things to note Farm gates - are to remain closed at all times please. This includes gates around the cabin. This is very important as the cattle are always chasing what's on the other side. It’s also not an easy job to herd them back in. Rubbish - take all food waste with you please. We can take care of the rest. Despite paying very high rates sadly there is no rubbish collection.
