Description

The Flame Tree Estate & Hotel stretches across several hills, planted with spices and timber. An infinity pool commands views across valleys. Spice plantations and jungle surround the hotel which has been created out of the restored Walawwa. Its walls are decorated with European and Asian art; its room fitted with restored Colonial furniture. Delicious food, on demand yoga & massage, jungle walks, a large library, great staff - all help to fulfill our mission: Come – And Find Peace. The space White vaulted ceilings, white panelled walls and cool white terrazzo floors make this spacious bedroom feel likes it is floating in the sky. It is situated on the first floor of the original Walawwa building. As one of our Heritage rooms, it is situated on the first floor of the original Walawwa building. It is accessed by a wide staircase hung with scores of antique photographs and prints of the region. Broad panels of old-style windows that open on 90-degree pivots are capped by traditional Sinhala awnings, and look out in two different directions, across hills, and a garden of frangipani Temple Trees Pale pearl Roman curtains hang on the windows and are backed to provide a total blackout as needed. It is furnished with beautifully restored Colonial furniture including a fort poster bed and seating cushioned in candyfloss pink. The walls are decorated with contemporary Sri Lankan art, tapestries by Ena de Silva and a large original Andy Warhol print. Lights, in the shape of golden heliconias, silver pineapples and colocasia leaves, brighten the airy space. The bed is hung with mosquito nets, although the incidence of real mosquitos in this microclimate is very rare. A sizable bathroom offers guests an airy white room housing a large shower, separate bath, wardrobe space, a safe and fantastic views in three different directions. Extra storage is provide for by an antique almirah. The room is named after the fruit loving civets that doze in The Flame Tree Estate's mahogany trees. Guest access The entire Estate. Other things to note We have a polar refrain here: "Come: and find peace."
