Welcome to our little one room, red log cabin on the lake! Our vacation home is our getaway and we hope you love it! (There is a substantial number of stairs. Please do not reserve our cabin if you have mobility restrictions. Thank you!) Take a kayak on the water, build a campfire in the pit, or relax on the deck and watch/listen for local wildlife! Watch the Races at Road America, or jump in the car and drive to Elkhart Lake or golf at Whistling Straits. Plenty of hiking trails nearby! This little ONE ROOM log cabin is your own little piece of paradise. This is our private space with a pier, kayaks, canoes, deck and fire pit with lake views. There is a substantial number of stairs from the road to the cabin and cabin to the lake. We do not recommend our home if you have trouble navigating stairs. Parking is close, at the top of the stairs and a short walk. The cabin is very close to Road America, half a mile and only a 10 minute walk, so you will hear the hum of the race cars between 8am and 6pm on the weekends, less on the weekdays. The main room has a full size murphy bed and two full size futons. The cabin is perfect for two people. ***Since there is only ONE ROOM we recommend this space for families only or only very close friends since there is NO PRIVACY and only ONE BATHROOM **** Kitchen and bath are brand new in May 2021. Linens, towels, beach towels, toiletries and dinnerware/flatware are provided for your convenience. No need to bring coffee or basic cooking supplies. You'll have just about anything you'll need to prepare a basic meal. We provide a 5 gallon water dispenser as well as bottled water for those venturing out. The cabin is...a cabin! The main space was originally an old hunting cabin and did not have running water or electricity. It is over 100 years old! Some time in the 1950's or 60's, there was the addition of the kitchen and bathroom. We are told it is the oldest cabin in the county. It is only open when temperatures are above freezing since the water lines are above ground. During colder temperatures, there is a gas fireplace and heater. BUGS! We are surrounded by water on two sides and heavily shaded! We do our best to keep all the bugs (spiders, mosquitos, gnats, etc) under control and out of the cabin, but as you can imagine, a log home has a lot of nooks and crannies that will house a spider, or two. We have plenty of bug spray should you need it! We love our little lake and the beautiful natural wetlands that border the south. With nature comes bugs that also bring us very vocal frogs, Great Blue Herons, Sandhill Cranes, Kingfishers, ground hogs, muskrats, and abundant song birds! There is parking for only ONE car near the cabin. Please let us know if you will be bringing a second car. We want to give you all the privacy you desire. We will be available anytime by telephone and text. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions. In an emergency, we will be available in person. This waterfront cabin is a 12 minute walk to Road America's Main Gate, a 10 minute drive to downtown Plymouth (restaurants, bars) and grocery stores and a 5 minute drive to Historic Elkhart Lake. Parking is available for only ONE car near the cabin. If you will be bringing an additional car, please contact us for parking location. You must agree to our HOUSE RULES and email/message a copy of your photo ID before we will approve your reservation. We may request a copy of your credit card for the security deposit. Please be aware that you will forfeit your security/damage deposit if any of our house rules are broken. This is a residential neighborhood and we love our neighbors! No guests beyond the registered number of guests are allowed. Parties of any kind are prohibited and quiet hours begin at 9pm-8am.
