The Shepherd’s hut and art room are close to the river. There are four self catering accommodations within the grounds each has access to their own hot tubs. The Shepherd’s hut has a shower and toilet, hair dryer, dressing gowns and a heater. Sole use of the Art room is included and has full cooking facilities, a fridge, a wood burning stove, table and sofa. It is an ideal escape for a romantic weekend. The garden is festooned with fairy lights and who are invited to feed the alpacas. The space The three other self catering accommodations at Yr Hen Felin include 2 converted horse boxes and a modern dwelling which is on the opposite of the back garden to the shepherd's hut. I ask guests to keep noise levels down after 11pm. For privacy you can use the secret garden As well as your own patio next to the Shepherd’s Hut, you also have sole use of the secret garden with it’s own private hot tub and steps down to the river. It is a truly magical space! During the Corona Virus it is self catering for the safety of all involved. So, sadly, I will not be cooking for guests. There is sole use of my art room next to the Shepherd’s hut. I will not be using the art room during your stay. The art room is a beautiful space and has a log burning stove which can be used for cooking, a combi built-in microwave oven, an induction Hob, a coffee machine with pods, cafetières, ground coffee, a fridge, a sink, pans, cutlery , crockery, mugs and glasses. There is also sofa. Please bring your own alcohol, no corkage fee. The kitchen side is COVID cleaned, but the other side with all my art materials is not- it is, after all, a working art room. Although, of course, I do not use it during your stay. There is a small television and internet in the art room. The art room has a double sofa bed, so it could accommodate a further two people at an extra cost of £25 per night per person. The Shepherd’s hut has a hair dryer, dressing gowns, towels, shampoo, hair conditioner and body wash. Guests are free to roam the grounds and to visit the lake at the end of the paddock, as well as the secret garden. There are seating areas all around the garden. Yr Hen Felin, The Old Mill, was a flour mill that served Dyffryn House, a stunning stately home recently acquired by the National Trust. Two acres of cottage garden provide a space for relaxation and sketching. The garden boasts many seating areas, a secret garden, a bridge over the river, a wishing well, a two hundred year old oak tree with surrounding seat, wild flowers, a colonnade of rose arches, an extensive vegetable patch, hens, ducks and bees and sheep and alpacas in the paddocks. We also have a pig. Yr Hen Felin is a traditional Welsh longhouse and lies in an East West axis. There are three sheltered patios for meals on There are 4 hot tubs. Two hot tubs overlook the river, one is in the secret garden and a further hot tub is on the raised lawn There is relatively little we can do as individuals to save the planet. Amongst other things, we can holiday in the UK and avoid planes and we can also recycle. Please put all waste food in the food recycling bins and rinse containers for the recycling bin. There is a £20 discount for your next booking if recycling is carried out properly (: Guest access Guests are welcome to use the hot tubs, dressing gowns are provided. Feel free to roam the garden and paddock, explore the river and the lake at the end of the paddocks. Other things to note Three other self catering accommodations are available: a heated converted horse box, a heated vintage horsebox and a modern dwelling in a cottage garden We host cider making days in October, normally twenty people work together, scratting the apples and pressing the juice, as well as preparing a traditional Sunday roast dinner with our own lamb and vegetables. The charge is £50 per person and guests leave with a flagon of juice and yeast with instructions on how to finish their cider at home. The demijohn costs £20. The cider is ready to be bottled just before Christmas. We will be restarting art courses once coronavirus is no longer a threat. We also cater for corporate days and weddings.
