The Lands End Cottage sits perched above the water’s edge overlooking Satellite Channel and beyond to Salt Spring Island, at the southern end of Vancouver Island. It is a truly authentic, uniquely artistic vacation home in one of the most desirable areas of the island. It is beautifully refurbished and filled with art, antiques and collectibles from around the world. It provides comfort, privacy, serenity and incomparable 180-degree sunset views. The gentle curve of the driveway leads you through the forest and slowly reveals the Cottage and all the things that await you here. It is the perfect retreat in a very quiet residential area in North Saanich not far from the ferry terminal, airport and the seaside town of Sidney. As you enter, the cares of the world start to melt away and you will find that the air feels softer and cleaner, fragrant from the garden’s blossoms and filled with the sound of the water lapping along the shore just a few feet away. It almost feels like you’re traveling back through time, to simpler days when life was gracious and uncomplicated. Our part of the island is off the beaten path and we like it that way. We live our lives a little slower than the rest of the world. That gives us time to see more of what there is to see and to experience more of the things that are authentic and meaningful — all far, far away from fast-paced big-city lives. Perfect for two or four people, the Lands End Cottage is a refuge for people and a haven for wildlife. It is an ideal home base for sight-seeing, outdoor adventure, shopping, dining, wine tasting or for quiet contemplation. Here you can isolate yourself: lie back and enjoy the sun; watch boats go by; see otters, seals and sometimes whales; listen to the geese as they forage for food along the beach, enjoy a glass of wine and read your next favorite book. A wood-burning fireplace will warm you on chilly nights. This 1400 sq. ft., beautifully furnished, spacious Cottage is on one level. It has 9' ceilings and maple hardwood and slate floors. The Great Room provides a bright and beautiful open space between the gourmet kitchen, dining room and living room, with each space seamlessly flowing into the next, creating an inviting and cozy common area with stunning water views. The full kitchen provides everything you will need to prepare a gourmet meal to just a cup of locally roasted coffee. The lovely master bedroom includes a queen size bed, a sitting area, a large closet, and a spacious en-suite bathroom with collected artwork on glass shelves in the shower. The second bedroom has a King bed or two twins and a newly updated bathroom with a walk-in shower just two steps away. The Great Room includes a small office area with Wi-Fi and panoramic views. The large deck provides views that go on forever but may cause you to want to stay for the entire day. A propane BBQ for outdoor entertaining is located just below the deck. During your days you can stroll the sea walk in downtown Sidney by the Sea, and enjoy some excellent restaurants and shopping. Take a drive into Victoria and explore the scenic Inner Harbour, the Royal British Columbia Museum, centuries-old historical sites, Canada’s oldest China Town, superb local coastal cuisine, and a thriving arts and cultural scene. Butchart Gardens is nearby. End each day with a gorgeous sunset and a 180-degree view of ocean, islands and majestic mountains beyond. What is the Lands End Cottage really like? Here’s how one long-time repeat guest has described the Cottage’s interior: “It’s fabulous curated eclecticism!” She wrote, “Wendy, a retired interior designer, has masterfully mixed different styles and eras together to create a lovely cohesive environment. The Cottage is all about harmony and the coming together of contrasting and complementary styles, juxtaposing textures, colors and artwork from around the world. I love it because it is artful and homey, intriguing and gorgeous, comforting and interesting, and doesn’t remind me that it is a vacation rental. That’s why we return every year.” Welcome to the Lands End Cottage. We know you will love it here! Life is short. Visit soon. ________________________________ AMENITIES: GENERAL: All linens provided: high quality and plush All paper products provided Basic soaps Deck overlooking Satellite Channel Heating/Cooling: in-floor heating in the winter and summer cooling through a summer fan in the furnace Hair dryer Iron and ironing board Light bulbs Shampoo, conditioner and body wash Towels provided: plush and plentiful KITCHEN – fully equipped Baking pans BBQ with propane Basic herbs plus salt and pepper Basic office supplies Beach towels Blender Books, plus bird, wildflower identification books, and a tide book Cake, pie pans and cooling racks Charging station Coffee grinder Coffee maker Cookies sheets Cookware Crockpot Cuisinart mini Dishes, plates and bowls (lots of variety) Dishwasher Electric hand mixer French press Food storage containers and wrap Ice bucket Kitchen scale Knives Microwave Milk frother Pots and pans Refrigerator with freezer Red and white wine glasses Roasting pan Serving plates, platters and bowls Sieve and colander Silverware and utensils Stove and oven (full size) Stacking washer and dryer Toaster oven Table linens and napkin rings Tea kettle Tea pot Toaster ENTERTAINMENT: 42” flat screen HDTV Roku, for streaming entertainment Bicycles DVD player Bird & plant identification brochures Board games, cribbage, cards and puzzles Kayaks and life jackets Wireless speaker for your devices SLEEPING: 1 King premium Sealy Posturepedic , can be split into two twins 1 Queen premium Sealy Posturepedic DECK: Table with umbrella and 4 chairs Lap robes OUTSIDE: BBQ with propane Steps to the beach Two kayaks, paddles and PFDs CONVENIENCE: Bathroom scale Basket filled with local travel-visitor information and trail guides Beach towels Bird identification books Closets Drawers Extra blankets Hangers Lap robes Luggage racks Pantry – laundry room Tide book USB charging plugin Vacuum cleaner and cleaning supplies SAFETY FEATURES: Exterior lighting (motion activated) Dead bolt locks Fire extinguisher First aid kit Smoke detector Carbon Monoxide detector
