Description

Small rural stone house restored with private garden and parking, offers tranquillity and a stunning view to Serra da Freita and Frecha da Mizarela waterfall. Great starting point to reach the remote hills of Freita, where you can enjoy long hikes, river baths or simply visit the geological and archaeological sites of Arouca Geopark. Located in a small rural village in the hills, nearby you can find a grocery store and good restaurant with local gastronomy. Porto city is just 50 min away by car. The space The house accommodates up to 4 adults and offers 1 master bedroom with a private bathroom, balcony and AC, on the upper floor; below there's a comfortable living room with a sofa bed, wood heater, AC, TV, a small toilet and a kitchenette well equipped also with a dishwasher. We offer free Wifi (MEO satellite 24Mbps) and Cabo TV. Baby cot available on request (extra payment of 10 euros per stay). From the inner courtyard, you can reach a covered dining area with a grill and wood oven, where you can make a barbecue, and there's a small laundry area with a washing machine. The property also has a private parking area with direct access to the house entrance. Besides the house presented in the pictures, there's another house, inside the property, where my family goes sometimes to spend some days (we don't live there). Guest access The guest has access to the house presented in the photos, which is not shared with other people, and also to the common areas: gardens, the entrance and interior patios, the covered dining area with barbecue and wood oven and a small area of service with washing machine. Common areas are usually shared with my family when we are staying in the main house. At this moment, when we have guests, we do not use the covered dining area. You can park your car at the entrance courtyard. If you arrive after 20:00h it's possible to leave the house keys at a combined location. We have available explanations and instructions of the house in English/ French/ Spanish, besides Portuguese and I will be always in contact in case you need any help. Other things to note Located at the top of the quiet rural mountain village of Gatão, Casa da Eira Velha it's just 15 min away by car from Arouca Geopark where you can find a network of great hiking trails, beautiful river beaches, and several great sites to visit as Frecha da Mizarela, one of the biggest waterfalls in Europe, and Pedras Parideiras, a very rare geological phenomenon; further away you have Paiva river walkway, worth a visit. Closer to the house it's Paço de Mato river beach, just 5 min by car, and, if you prefer to walk, it takes only 15 min to reach the prehistoric rock carvings of Outeiros dos Riscos, part of the Water and Stone Circuit (Rota da Água e da Pedra). 5 min by car, at the village of Felgueira, you will find a really good restaurant: Mira Freita, where you can have a taste of the local gastronomy. In the village, there's a small grocery store and every Tuesday and Thursday, around 11:00h, you can buy fresh fish from a sales van, coming directly from Matosinhos. For more variety in terms of food shopping, you can go to Vale de Cambra city, 10km away; there's a street market at Vale de Cambra, days 9 and 23 of the month. Registration Details 51973/AL
