Description

Experience a breathtaking panorama of the Rhine above the rooftops of the town. The apartment is designed for two to six guests. This sunlit former mine nestles against the rock like a swallow’s nest, directly below Burg Gutenfels and along the Rheinsteig trail - far from train and traffic noise. Enjoy the shaded terrace beneath the vine arbor and the herb garden. From your secluded sun meadow, you overlook the Rhine, passing ships, and the historic Pfalzgrafenstein castle. The space The apartment has three bedrooms, a bathroom with shower, a guest toilet, a fully equipped kitchen, a dining and living room, a terrace with vine arbour, a medicinal herb and fruit garden with figs, almonds and vineyard peaches and a sunny, secluded lawn. A large bedroom is located in the attic studio and two further bedrooms are on the garden level. The attic studio can be used as a family room for up to 4 persons (two French beds). The other bedrooms each offer a double bed. This makes the house particularly suitable for groups of 2 to 6 persons. (A cradle and a high chair are available). The property was probably used as a roof slate mine until 1869. The garden is located on the old spoil heap of the mine, from where the old mine mouth is also accessible. Because the slagheap represents an almost flat, i.e. "plane surface" on the slope, the house has the name "Plon". For almost 150 years "the Plon" was then the dwelling house of the local druggist family, who planted the medicinal herb garden and the many rare Mediterranean plants such as figs, almonds and vineyard peaches. The herbs are available to guests for making tea and fresh spices for cooking. Guest access From the central 'Zollplatz' a foot path (between the youth hostel and 'Hotel zum Turm') leads to the 'Schlossweg', a very short way of only 25 meters. As you reach the ' Schlossweg' you turn left and after 25 meters you will reach the house. There is a gate between the garden walls and and a stair leads to the garden level and the entrance underneath the pergola. Other things to note A lot of rural regions in Europe Kaub experiences an enormous decline in population. Because of its beautiful scenery, the masses of historic monuments, wildlife sancturies and its fascinating history Kaub and the neighbourhood are very attractiv destinations. Since centuries Kaub lived from shipping, pilot's business and slate mining. Today tourism is the most important economic focus. Renting holiday houses and apartments is a very welcomed opportunity to bring some welfare directly to the region' s inhabitants. Kaub is looking forward to meet its guests - you will recognize this directly! Despite the town counts only 800 people it is very lively and communicating;-) A lot of neighbours are engaged in theater festival, carnival parade, Nikolaus market, the choire, the biking day 'Tal Total' or the current swimming school 'Cubalido'. There we celebrate the summer beach live on the river's island. The Kaubians are very cosmopolitan and tolarant. Gays, lesbian and people of all colors and religion are warmly welcomed.
