The forest is a haven for Himalayan and migratory birds. Experience vibrant spring flowers and stunning views of snow-clad Himalayas. Enjoy quiet bonfires, roasting potatoes or chicken under starry skies. Ideal for those seeking solitude or select company. Decent WiFi lets you work from home amid these secluded sylvan surrounds. The space This charming home offers a cozy kitchen and dining area, a comfortable bedroom with a spacious attached bathroom, and a large verandah nestled within a serene oak forest. The well-lit and ventilated rooms create a warm, inviting atmosphere. The property has running hot and cold water, with additional heating available through electric heaters. Spanning five acres of forested land, the estate also houses four other private cottages, ensuring tranquility and seclusion. Our caretakers, Kundan and Pushpa, will assist with house cleaning twice a week and help source fresh local produce, including vegetables, milk, and eggs. They speak only Hindi. A simple homemade Indian lunch can be arranged upon request (chargeable). For winter comfort, the cottage features a unique rocket stove-heated kitchen and living space, which also warms a masonry bed. However, this is only lit for long-term stays (over a month) or for those familiar with handling fire. Otherwise, an electric heater is recommended. The kitchen comes equipped with a gas stove and essential utensils. You can either bring your groceries or contact Shubham for home delivery of supplies. Guest access The entire cozy cottage is yours to enjoy with your partner—your perfect private retreat. Treat it with love and care. The fully equipped kitchen, complete with a gas stove and essential cooking supplies, is ready for your culinary adventures. Settle in, relax, and make yourself at home! Other things to note Reaching your cottage is an adventure in itself—a scenic 20-30 minute uphill walk through a forest path. Best to come by taxi till the Aarohi headquarters (local NGO) at Naulikan (Malla Peora). It is a 2 1/2 hour drive from Kathgodam. Call our caretaker to get directions and help to walk up to the house. There are other cottages on the estate, each with its privacy. Please help to maintain the sanctity and serenity of this unique property. You are welcome to smoke, but outside the house. We encourage friendly gatherings (no outside visitors) but please refrain from loud noise. Also please minimize the use of plastic and carry your plastic and empty glass bottles back with you. We thank you for the respect shown for the serenity of the place. Guests are expected to keep their rooms / kitchen / utensils / bathroom clean. The caretaker will come in to help clean once in 3 days (this is not optional, as we need to maintain the property). If you don’t feel like cooking, there is cafe food that can be ordered. Basic provisions are available in Kapil store and stores near Aarohi office. However, we recommend to kindly carry your provisions (dry and fresh) with you. Please note that there are short power cuts every now and then that are beyond our control. We also live in a forest, and sometimes the little creatures (like spiders, moths etc) end up inside the house (leave your doors and windows shut as much as possible). They are harmless, and part of the joys of living in nature.
