"The Barnacle" is an idyllic destination "placed on the National Registry of Historic Places" located in the historic artist colony in Cragsmoor, NY. This fully appointed, meticulously restored retreat is just one mile away from the Sam's Point Park Preserve – "one of the Earth's Last Great Places" – and it's just 1.5 hours from the GWB. This spotless gem is both spacious and inviting - the perfect getaway spot for couples, families & friends... to enjoy ALL the comforts of modern-day living. The space Period inside fireplaces, chestnut beams, hardwood floors, Dutch-doors, and wainscoting are complemented by the original plaster walls' textural richness highlighting the expansive, open-entertaining layout within. There are six fully appointed, private bedrooms (named after the famed artists of Cragsmoor) with luxe bedding (one king, one queen, three full and, one twin upstairs / one full-size downstairs), each with its own AC unit. The first floor "Turner" bedroom has a full ensuite bathroom with convenient access – no stairs. The upstairs "Inness" wing is perfect for family groups, complete with a pack-n-play crib, two private bedrooms (one with an adjoining sitting room with a new trundle queen bed), and a full bath. The formal dining room can be configured to comfortably seat thirteen people. Four large, cushioned bay window seats in the living/dining rooms provide cozy hideaways to relax in. The living room has a huge, comfy couch. The fully equipped home chef's kitchen is perfect for cooking for a crowd or those more intimate gatherings with family and friends. Speedy EERO mesh WI-FI, new smart HDTVs (3), JBL Bluetooth indoor/outdoor speakers, and radiant heating are some of the other modern conveniences at hand. The outside environs (surrounded by eleven plus private acres of wooded, family-owned property) boast inviting wraparound porches/patios with lovely sunset views, warm southerly exposure, a seven-person deluxe hot tub, fire pit, Weber grill, hammock, stone-walled entrance, ample free parking, circular drive, Adirondack chairs, etc., all in a quiet, peaceful setting. Please Note: We charge the same price for children (2 years or older) as we do for adults - please consider this when listing the number of potential guests in your party. Thank you! Guest access We are a small Hamlet so walking & biking the immediate neighborhood will generally suffice. The Sam's Point Preserve is less than a mile away as the crow fly's - but if the hills are too much - they have paid parking. Note: Preserve parking can be limited - so get there early! Walk-ups are free. The closest town / shopping (Ellenville) is 4-7 miles away depending on the road traveled - close enough for convenience, but not too far out in the boonies. Other things to note Enjoy the regions outstanding array of indoor/outdoor activities, including hiking, wineries, horse-back riding, music venues, the arts, swimming holes, dining, natural attractions, biking, theater, cross country skiing, kayaking, microbreweries/distilleries, fishing, antiquing, rock climbing, premium outlets, parks/preserves, golf – to mention a few! Access to AC Units, Bikes & Hot Tub are (only) seasonally available amenities as follows: Hot Tub access is unavailable from January 15 - March 15 (temperatures must be above freezing temp day/night during your stay to use hot tub). Window AC Units may be unavailable after Nov. 1st. Bikes may be unavailable after first local snow fall (approximately on or before December 1st). Thanks for your understanding! We require a signed lease agreement (and bicycle use/safety waiver if applicable) prior to renters coming to the property or using bikes... We will forward agreements prior to accepting listing.
