The space La Posada de los Sentidos was an old convent house founded by San Francisco de Borja. Built during the 16th century, in stone, wood and adobe with more than 350 m2, five bedrooms, cellar, kitchen, living room and dining room. Renovated with the same original techniques and materials by interior designer Javier Faura. You'll love the space, decor, and light. Ideal accommodation for adventurous couples, nature lovers, history and gastronomy, families with children. A cheerful and very cozy house. It can accommodate five families or groups of friends who want to live a unique experience in the region of La Vera, in an authentic natural environment. For those whose main motivation for traveling is to enjoy the food at the destination, Extremadura products are the fundamental elements of our gastronomy, but there are others, atmosphere, decoration, ambience, fluid relationship between cook and tourist. The Posada de los Sentidos offers new quality services and activities to attract tourists, living in harmony with our rooms to accommodate our guests, in an emerging market such as experiential tourism. The Posada de los Sentidos' cuisine will emphasize the prestige of Extremadura's products, elevating them to the category of stars of the menu, simple and uncomplicated. Products derived from the Pure Iberian Pig under the protected designation of origin such as hams, shoulders, loins and sausages with traditional meat cuts such as prey, feathers and secrets. The best meats of Extremadura veal and lamb, tortas del casar, de la serena and Ibores. Oils from Gata-Hurdes and Monterrubio. Paprika from La Vera, honey from Las Villuercas and tasty cherries from Valle del Jerte and La Vera. The cuisine of the past for the times of today or the reunion with the flavors of the past. These products are marketed in the Posada de los Sentidos, both for sale and for tasting, in the ideal format. A key piece: connecting with local culture in a more experiential and participatory way, collaboration between farmers, ranchers and chefs. Look for local (quality) products that are based on the cultural heritage of the destination, and that make the places more sustainable. Gastronomy; wedding cake, sausages, hams, crumbs, stews and typical stews, with elaborations of the new emerging Extremadura cuisine, very well cared for by the good work of the restorers. Between mountains and gorges, in a privileged natural environment, it belonged to ancient Lusitania. The pre-Roman peoples who occupied this region left numerous remains, including cave paintings, Castro settlements, tombs and ceramic pieces, among others. The Romans also passed through here, who imposed on the town the name of Municipium Flavium Vivertorum. The extensive Roman construction program, present throughout the Peninsula, left some interesting elements in the Jarandilla area, such as various bridges and roads, a villa and an important necropolis, La Berrocosa. Remains of tombs and inscriptions have also been found. From the Visigothic period there are hardly any remains, the most outstanding being the baptismal font that is kept in the church of Santa María de la Torre. The Visigoths were replaced in the 8th century by the Muslims, who gave the town the name Xarandiella and left some - few - remains of their culture, such as cultivation techniques, certain samples of Mudejar art and some parts of the church of Santa María de la Torre. At the beginning of the 13th century Alfonso VII conquered Jarandilla. Currently, Jarandilla is a town with attractions including the typicality of some of its streets, the landscapes that surround it and its monuments. The most interesting of these is its castle, where Carlos V stayed, although it is also worth mentioning its church, built under the dedication of Nuestra Señora de la Torre. On November 11, 1556, Carlos I arrived in Jarandilla and stayed in the castle of the Counts of Oropesa until he could move to Yuste.
