Description
Our stylish island hideaway is located on the shores of Davaar Island… a beautiful wooden cabin ideal for those wanting to experience a sense of solitude, be close to nature and enjoy total privacy… whilst still enjoying some luxurious touches and comfort. The Bothy has been hand built, with sheep wool insulation and oak framed double glazed windows and doors. Barnacle overlooks the sea and is thoughtfully designed to make your stay with us as comfortable as possible whatever the weather! The space Barnacle Bothy is nestled in a completely private glade, overlooking the sea. The Bothy is beautifully decorated and equipped throughout and includes an ensuite bathroom with shower, double bed, well equipped kitchen area and stunning views. Start the day with a spring water shower in the ensuite bathroom then cook a hearty breakfast with our free range eggs in the kitchen area or outside on the open fire pit. After a day exploring the island or the nearby coast you can relax by the fire pit watching the sun set. Alternatively snuggle on the sofa, read a book or birdwatch from the balcony. A luxuriously comfy double bed with full linen service, heated mattress topper and hot water bottle is then ready for you to enjoy. A multitude of wildlife can be enjoyed right from the veranda – including Minke Whale, Porpoise, Dolphins, Seals, Oystercatchers, Golden Eagles, Otters, Peregrine, and a wealth of other sea and bird life. We welcome well behaved dogs (£25 surcharge per pet) and request they are kept on a lead around livestock. Guest access Guests can roam freely across the whole Island and explore a network of stunning trails, caves, summits, rocky coastline and an abundance of wildlife. Other things to note The Dhorlin (causeway) across to Davaar Island is exposed twice a day at low tide. On arrival and departure, Ned our caretaker will meet you on the mainland where we have a parking area where you can leave your car and he will transport you and your luggage across by 4×4. On booking we will advise on best crossing times. As a general guide, it is safe to walk 3 hours either side of the low tide. It takes approximately 20-30 minutes to cross the causeway on foot and is a stunning walk in itself. The cabin is very well equipped. Please note there is no WiFi and no microwave. We recommend bringing soft overnight bags that can be stowed under the bed - space is limited! We recommend walking boots and/or wellies. There are beautiful walks on and around the island and the mainland too...all made easier by a sturdy pair of boots! Finally, please be aware that we may have other guests and changeovers to manage so we will advise on all transfer times. Timings must be adhered to for everyone’s safety and enjoyment.
