Millies - perfect for a Couple

Welcome to Millies, a charming, cosy miner’s cottage in the historic town of Derby. In 1874 George Renison Bell discovered tin and miners flocked to the valley. In 1876 the ‘Brothers Mine’ which was named after the Krushka brothers, was opened. The settlement that grew up around the mine became known as ‘Brothers Home’ and that name persisted until in 1887 it was decided to change the name to Derby. Come and visit the world class mountain biking trail network of Derby! The space Millie’s is an historic character cottage built in 1901. The two bedroom cottage includes a queen size bed and the second bedroom has two single beds. All beds and mattresses are new and super comfy! All bed linen and towels are provided. The cottage is full of character with a mix of antique and contemporary furniture. There is a new large lockable bike shed for secure bike storage and there’s a track pump and a few tools in the shed! Enjoy the beautiful wood fire if it’s chilly, or sit out on the classic front verandah and take in the view of the Derby MTB trail head, only 200 metres away. Walking distance to everything on offer in Derby. Other things to note The Derby Post Office stocks fresh bread, milk, yoghurt, Tassie cheeses, as well as pies and pasties! We recommend to bring all your supplies & food with you. There is a small IGA supermarket in the nearby town of Branxholm (10 min drive) and a full supermarket in Scottsdale (25 min drive). Take extra care on the roads as there’s lots of wildlife around so it’s best to avoid driving at dusk, dawn & night time. For bike shuttle and bike hire in Derby, there’s some great options including Bark Off Biking, Vertigo, Evolution, Derby Bike Shop and UDA. Highly recommend you get online & book that at the same time you book your trip to avoid disappointment of missing out! Parking is available on the street directly at the front gate of Millies.
