The Owl and the Willow, Creekside Artists’ Studio
Description
Relax, renew, and play at this brand new, unique, rural, and tranquil getaway close to whitewater rafting on the French Broad, hiking the Appalachian Trail, cycling, etc! Closest town is Marshall, a 30 minute distance from studio cabin and 1 hour from Asheville. The space This brand new studio space doubles as an art studio when I don’t have lodgers. But you will find it caters well to guests requiring a quiet getaway from man made noise and replaced with the music of birds, bees, gurgling creek, and gentle mountain breezes! Loft sleeping areas are not recommended for people over 6 ft, or that are not agile enough to climb ladders to sleeping lofts. The studio sleeps 3 people, 2 in the loft and one can sleep on the sleeper sofa in the main room. There are two small storage areas for clothes, but this may not be enough for 3 people. Please refrain from wearing shoes in the studio. Bring house shoes in colder seasons or warm socks. Guest access Guests can access most of the space except art supplies and materials that are in a few tucked away places. They are welcome to use one of the easels if they want to paint with their own supplies. Guests can enjoy the yard around the studio, the fire pit,and creek, but need to be respectful of the privacy of the host’s main house property next door. Main house, garden, and pond can be visited with hosts invitation only. Guests can walk dirt roads in area but not the road leading past the barn-this is private land. Please do not go off roads into woods, again this is private land. If you have any questions about where to walk/hike, I’ll be glad to make recommendations. The Appalachian trail is 30 minutes away by car as well! Other things to note Visit the town of Marshall for its brewery, MadCo Brewery, the quaint shops, especially “Flow”, Zuma Coffee Shop, Sweet Monkey for lunch or dinner , Ingles or health food store for groceries. The area offers rafting, hiking trails, horseback riding, Hot Springs Spa, and local community events. Visit Asheville River Arts District or take a sightseeing tour of Asheville (1 hour drive) that starts at the Asheville Welcome Center or visit the nationally famous Biltmore House. Drive the Blue Ridge Parkway and visit the Folk Art Center along the way. Drive up Mt. Mitchell on a clear day!
