The name "Ruruwai" is a combination of Ruru (New Zealands native owl also known as the Morepork because of it's call) and "wai" meaning water. There are many native birds in Piha and you will see a lot of them, and hopefully hear the Ruru at night. You are a 2 min walk to the Piha Store, Café, Art Gallery, Bowling Club (for a beer and food) and a 5 min walk to the stunning Piha Beach and Lion Rock. Walking track to the Kitekite falls waterfall and Waitakere Ranges National Park at the end of the road and located right on the world famous Hillary Trail. Garage below is reserved for the owners but if you have bulkier items you would like to arrange secure storage for, let us know. Guest access There are two houses on the property and the owners live in the house behind. The driveway and the first part of the stairs are shared. But your place is totally seperate, private and fully self contained.
