This home is nestled high on the side of a mountain at 3900 feet elevation, overlooking a lovely valley and mountain view. Private hiking trails lead from the driveway to the top of the mountain. Enjoy your own personal mountain getaway, close to the Smoky Mountain National Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Only a 15 to 20 minute drive to Maggie Valley or to Waynesville. Hiking, horseback riding, white water rafting, fishing, golfing and shopping are close by. Front wheel drive and 4 wheel drive vehicles are best for navigating our mountain roads due to the steepness in some spots (read the last paragraph for more information). Furnished 3 bdrm with 2 baths. Sleeps 6 - one queen bed, one double bed, and two twin beds. Full kitchen with appliances and dishware/cookware, dishwasher, electric and propane heat, wood burning fireplace, gas grill, full size washer and dryer, Roku TV (Netflix) and high speed wireless internet. A fire pit for campfires sits behind the cabin. No pets are allowed. Rental season extends from April thru October each year. Driving tips: The last half mile leading up to the Solid Rock Hideaway is gravel and moderately steep. Most front-wheel drive vehicles don't have any problem if the driver doesn't drive too slow up the steeper section, but some rear-wheel drive vehicles find they sometimes lose traction on the gravel. All-wheel-drive and 4-wheel-drive vehicles are ideal. As you are going uphill on the steeper parts of the gravel roads, it helps to keep a steady speed and not stop. If you do find you are losing traction, just stop and back up to a flatter part of the road, and try again. When you are heading back down the steeper parts of the mountain roads, make sure to keep the transmission in a lower gear in order to save wear-and-tear on your breaks.
