A secluded, beautifully converted, shearers cookhouse on a large sheep and cattle farm, at 1000m elevation, with access to a 10 km private river frontage, close to 5 National Parks, fossicking sites and old mines, mild summers and cold winters and within 4 hours of Brisbane; what more could you ask for? There are 2 bedrooms (plus an option for larger groups), with a kitchen, an outdoor living/BBQ area, a wood heater, a shower and toilet block and a fire pit. The space The Cookhouse caters for people who want a getaway with a camping feel. It is very comfortable, warm and clean but we have intentionally kept the amenities relatively basic to enhance the 'getting away from it all' vibe. There is no TV/DVD or wi-fi just plenty of board games, books and some sporting equipment for great family entertainment and serious relaxation. Saying that, the mobile coverage is very good for those who need to keep in touch or get on the internet. You also get to enjoy a touch of yesteryear living with the showers and toilet in a separate building about 50m away. If booking between May and October guests will need to be willing to operate the wood heater, which is not hard to learn and there will be plenty of firewood cut for you. Guest access 10km private double frontage to the Deepwater River with numerous great holes for fishing, swimming, picnicking and kayaking. Farm tours can be organised, as can tours of our many old timber slab pioneer buildings built in the mid to late 1800's. Other things to note Firewood is provided. If you are booking between May and October you will need to be willing to operate the wood heater. We can show you how to use it, it's not that hard. You will need to bring your own fishing gear but there are shops nearby that provide lures etc. suitable for this area. Registration Details PID-STRA-14553
