Brookside 1940s home beside a stream
Description
Brookside is a bit of a haven for travellers, whether you are cycling, hiking, visiting friends or wallowing in the mineral spa. My home is restful and safe. Sit under the trees or in the sun after your strenuous day and appreciate the bird song. After a good night's sleep, enjoy breakfast of homemade meusli and other delights in the dining room or in the sun drenched living room while admiring the view of Mt Te Aroha. Oh, if you're allergic to cats please refer to the section on Pets. The space From the bedroom window you can see piwakawaka and wax-eyes flitting in the fruit trees. There may be a tui or two in the camelia tree. The bedroom has built in drawers and wardrobe and the guest bathroom [not shared] is just a few steps away at the end of the hall. It is quiet, although you may hear the stream and birds of course. Bikes can be safely left in the lock up garage. I purchased the property in 2020 and have slowly refurbished it, retaining as many of the original features as possible. The walls are now insulated and new insulation is installed in the roof. Guest access You're welcome to sit in the lounge, dining room, the front porch or under the trees. Or grab a picnic rug and contemplate the water running over the stones and pebbles in the stream. Just let me know if you need to do any laundry . There is an iron and ironing board if you need it. During your stay I'm still learning about the awesome walks, tracks, hikes and what's where. Happy to chat and help where I can. The information centre staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. Other things to note I have 2 cats, one is very shy and likely to be hiding. The other one will come for a smooch if invited.
