Beyond the patio, the stunning wildflower meadow offers plenty of space for children and pets to play. Please be aware that the garden and meadow are not enclosed, so we kindly ask that pets remain on a leash at all times. EATING OUT For a fine dining experience just a short stroll away, Hallidays Restaurant is located at the end of Watery Lane—simply turn right out of the drive. For a classic country pub atmosphere, The Fox and Hounds is a five-minute walk on the main road towards Havant. Turn right out of the drive, then left onto the B2146, and you’ll find the pub just a few hundred yards down on the right-hand side. A little further afield, The Richmond Arms in the neighbouring village of West Ashling offers a fantastic dining experience. It’s a ten-minute walk—turn left out of the drive, follow Watery Lane to the end, then turn right. The restaurant is on your left, just after the picturesque Mill Pond. GETTING AROUND Bus Station: There is a bus stop at the top of the road with frequent buses to Chichester. Chichester Train Station: 15- minute drive London: Trains from London Victoria to Chichester run every 30 minutes and take approximately 1.5 hours. NEARBY ATTRACTIONS Bosham Harbour is a charming coastal spot just a short drive away. Enjoy a stroll along the water’s edge, visit the historic Saxon church, and stop for a drink at one of the cafés or the pretty waterfront pub. For wine lovers, Ashling Park Vineyard—just 1 mile away—offers award-winning wines and daily tours from Thursday to Sunday. The historic Roman town of Chichester is just 5 miles east of Funtington. Its pedestrian-friendly centre is home to boutique shops, cafés, galleries, and Chichester Cathedral, famous for its separate bell tower, where bird watchers might spot nesting Peregrine Falcons. West Wittering Beach is a stunning sandy Blue Flag beach and a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest. Largely undeveloped, it retains its natural beauty, making it perfect for walkers, swimmers, paddleboarders, and kite surfers. Ample parking is available. For breathtaking panoramic views, hike to The Trundle, the highest point on the South Downs Way, offering spectacular vistas across Chichester Harbour. It’s part of the famous Goodwood Estate, known for its motorsports and horse racing events. Garden lovers will enjoy West Dean Gardens, one of England’s greatest restored gardens. Wander along the grand pergola or explore the historic Arboretum. Right next door, the Weald & Downland Living Museum showcases beautifully reconstructed historic buildings, set in stunning downland countryside. It’s a fascinating glimpse into Sussex’s rural past. Guest access Guests will have exclusive use of the entire lodge, with dedicated parking for one car, including an EV charger with a Type 11 socket (please inform us in advance if you wish to use the charger). The villages of Funtington and West Ashling are both within walking distance, offering a selection of country pubs and restaurants. Please note that there is a second lodge on the property, which may also be occupied by guests. Other things to note CHECK IN / CHECK OUT Check in time is after 4pm and check out time is before 10am. Please can we ask that you check out on time to prevent any disruption to the cleaner's schedule. Please note a fee of £100 for lost keys and £50 for call outs if locked out. CLEANING/ LINEN The property will be cleaned and prepared with linen and towels for your arrival. Mid-stay cleans are not included, but please get in touch if you would like to pay to book a clean or fresh linen and towels during your stay. We will also provide a limited amount of consumables (toilet rolls, shampoo/conditioner etc.) to kick-start your stay and can recommend a local store where you can easily purchase more when you are settled in. PETS One small, well behaved dog is welcome to join you on your holiday in the cottage, for an additional fee of £30 to cover extra cleaning. Please message in advance with the details of your pet (breed/age). - Dogs must be well behaved and house trained. - Please do not allow them upstairs or on the furniture. - Please clear up after them in the garden and around the property. - Muddy paws should be cleaned before they are allowed in the house. - Please do not leave them alone in the property. ELECTRIC CARS There is a EV charge point which is available by arrangement and for an additional fee if you would like to charge your electric car.
