Kilmartin Estate Cottage, a Highland Holiday Cottage in Glenurquhart This wonderfully secluded cottage sits on its own in the hills on the side of Glen Urquhart, just 6 miles west of Loch Ness and Drumnadrochit, the tourist village, with well known Highland attractions like Urquhart Castle and the Loch Ness monster exhibitions The space From your base at the holiday cottage, you can if you wish, spend the whole of your holiday in seclusion, exploring the hills and forests of the 1700 acres estate which is given over to wildlife by the Swedish owners. Deer are often seen right around the cottage's extensive lawns. Walking through the estate's ancient Caledonian pine forest or around the wildlife pond in the birch woodland or over the heather clad hills. From the highest point on the estate Loch Ness can be seen to the east, the Moray Firth to the north and to the west, the snow capped mountains of Glen Affric, designated an area of natural outstanding beauty. From Kilmartin cottage there are fabulous views across the glen. You cannot see another house and you are about a mile from the main road to Glen Affric, so you won't be disturbed by traffic either. The cottage itself is a traditional, stone built, slate roof croft cottage which was totally renovated by the Swedish (architect) owner who has tastefully furnished the accommodation with comfort and Scandinavian quality in mind.
