Enjoy sublime mountain views from the spacious, shady verandah before heading out to explore the surrounding hills and forests of the Western Ghats. Whether you would rather take a refreshing dip in the seasonal streams, hike along quiet trails or just rest on the warm, black rocks, this is a perfect place to relax, unwind and get closer to nature. The space Built of local basalt stone, the homestay offers simple, comfortable accommodation. One large room combines a main space for living, sleeping, and cooking. The bathroom is attached and is shared with the hosts, who may need access through your room to the bathroom. The main space includes two generously sized bunk beds. They have good quality mattresses that are 110cm/3.6ft wide and can each potentially sleep two. An additional single mattress can be rolled out on the floor. Two floor cushions provide seating. There is ample space for storing clothes and other belongings in the wardrobe. You're welcome to read through the books on the bookcase. The kitchenette includes a fridge-freezer, an induction hob, and a sink as well as cutlery, crockery, glasses, pots and pans and basic utensils. We also provide a selection of spices, teas and coffee. While you are welcome to prepare your own food, we also recommend you enjoy the local food we can provide for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Filtered drinking water is not available in the homestay itself, but can be supplied in bottles. The attached bathroom includes a boiler for hot-water. As the water pressure is quite low, we recommend bucket baths rather than showers. During the hotter months, a ceiling fan and additional standing fan help keep the place cool. There is no A/C. Combined with the beautiful mountain views, the large table, bench and camping chairs on the verandah make it a perfect spot for enjoying meals, and relaxing during the day. The house is part of an organic farm where we grow rice, fruit and vegetables. Depending on the season, you can sample our mulberries and strawberries, as well as eggplants, okra, tomatoes, chillies, cucumbers and karelas. We also sell small quantities of our produce, including jams and pickles. Guest access There is limited parking at the homestay with more possibilities nearby. Indigo Green Camp is part of Sun Valley, a largely undeveloped 300-acre site that includes other accommodation facilities and a restaurant, as well as a small number of private bungalows. The narrow, stone roads within Sun Valley are lit at night. Other things to note The Western Ghats are celebrated for their biodiversity, and Indigo Green Camp is a super base for wildlife watching and hiking. As well as an abundance of butterflies, geckos and birds (including serpent eagles), the local wildlife also includes several species of snakes, some of which are venomous. We advise caution when interacting with animals: please be careful not to approach any animal too closely, don’t stick your hands in any rocks, and watch where you step. The front door to the house should be kept closed and you should check your shoes before putting them on. The homestay is located in a rural area, near the village of Bheliv. There are no shops within walking distance. Supplies can be bought at Jambhulpada and Parali which are about 35 mins drive from the homestay. Mobile networks are available through Jio, but the connection is not always reliable. We sometimes experience power cuts due to load shedding.
