Authentic Javanese House in the Heart of the City

Be prepared to experience the authenticity of Javanese house that is combined with heart warming modern touch. Originally functioning as house of village family, Omah Selaras construction was brought in to the heart of Yogyakarta. With slight remodelling, guests would have first hand experience living in authentic Limasan-style house, which is rarely seen and built nowadays without being clumsy as it’s furnished with modern equipment. The space The lodging consists of two air-conditioned bedrooms fits for 4 adults. Additional beds are provided so in total Omah Selaras is available for 6 adults. Yet please be advised that additional beds need in advance notification. Its open air kitchen and dining room is equipped with modern appliances where you can cook and enjoy eating at the same time with view of vibrant colorful wall. Connected to the dining room, the living room is a space with traditional touch where guests can lay back entertained by TV cable connection and fast wifi connection. Sitting in the spacious terrace, guests may enjoy lush tropical garden and large Koi fish pond. If you are lucky, you may hear the frog song especially in the rainy season. Each bathroom in Omah Selaras is set up with cold and hot shower. Guest access Omah Selaras is tucked in the middle of typical of Kampong of Yogyakarta. Albeit its not located in the edge of the main street, the road and alley leading to the property is accessible by one car and our front yard can fit into two cars. Other things to note As Omah Selaras is located in typical kampung of Yogyakarta, please be advised that you will hear adzan (praying calling) five times a day. In addition, there will be event when you may expect some noises. They are: 1. During fasting month (1-30 Ramadan), you may hear the activity from the mosque as it will be more active in the evening than usual. Every evening moslem will pray and reading Kor'an (Moslem holy book) together in the mosque. 2. Indonesian moslems also celebrated two big religious holiday Eid-l Fitri and Eid-l Adha. Eid-l Fitr is celebrated every First of Shawall. It's a big celebration after 30 day of fasting. Eid-l adha falls on the 10th Dhu-al-hidjahh . You may hear 'takbir' recited in the night before those events from mosque or even from the street as usually there will be parade in the street prior the D-Day. Please kindly note that islamic calendar is different to Gregorian calendar. 3. Another event to notice is Independence day on August, 17, as it is a big celebration and usually so many events held preceding, on and after the Independence day. In every kampong, events and games will be held and you may expect some noise. Feel free to observe or join in the festive as it will also offer you opportunity to have local experience first hand. 4. Our koi pond occasionally attracts frogs especially in the rainy season. While some guests love and enjoy the frog song, we understand that it might be disturbing noise for others. We suggest you sleeping with earplug to block the noise. Respecting the surrounding neighborhood, guests are supposed to manage an acceptable level of noise especially after 9 PM. Guests are also expected to live up to the corresponding ethics and norms. No parties are allowed.
