Description

Bounded by trout streams, in 7 acres of private gardens, rivers, fields and woodland, The Barn is tucked away in the village of Drefach Felindre, just a short drive from Cardigan Bay with its spectacular coastline and Blue Flag beaches, boasting cliff walks, cafes and pubs. Once the heart of the Welsh woollen industry, the village is home to the National Wool Museum. Nearby, you will find the local park and playground, a village pub, fish-and-chip shop, convenience store and post-office. The space Bounded by trout streams, The Barn is tucked away in the village of Drefach Felindre, once the centre of the Welsh woollen industry. The National Wool Museum, visited by King Charles, is at the end of the drive as is the local park – with climbing frames, swings and slides. The village pub is within walking distance and there’s a fish-and-chip shop, convenience store and post-office nearby too. Within easy reach are the Preseli Hills, Pembrokeshire National Park and the wild, ‘Dark Sky’ Llanllwni Mountain. For outdoor enthusiasts the surrounding area is just waiting to be explored. Meandering trails and quiet country lanes beckon walkers, cyclists, and horse riders, while birdwatchers and fishermen will find plenty to interest them. River canoe at Llandysul and Cilgerran or venture to the Cardigan Bay coastline for unspoiled sandy beaches, breathtaking cliff walks, sea sports, dolphin watching and seaside villages. If you don’t feel like exploring, there’s plenty to do at The Barn itself. Meet Molly, our senior Harris Hawk, who looks fierce but likes being photographed with new friends. Try your hand at tracking a hawk, flying a drone, panning for gold, fishing for trout or practice your golf swing - clubs and balls provided. At the rear of The Barn, an orchard leads down to a stream. In the summer, youngsters have great fun paddling around and building dams. Early risers might see fox cubs playing in the grass, or pheasants on the lookout for breakfast. For a while the fishpond was empty – an otter took the koi carp to feed her family and a heron visited regularly until seen off by one of our hawks. A raised patio overlooking the orchard catches the afternoon and evening sun. It’s a great place to enjoy a drink or barbecue as the day ends and the tawny owls and bats start the night shift. There is off road parking for 3 cars. The 7Kw EV charge point (metered and charged at cost) means that EV owners can go out for the day then re-charge overnight, ready for the next days adventure.
