What Our Guest Said: “We loved the The Farmer’s Loft, complete with all its home comforts, yet a world apart from any other self-catering stays out there! Full of considered, quirky and beautiful objects and furniture, it’s a place to retreat to after being busy making in the workshops downstairs. It’s location is perfect for exploring the true beauty of the lake district in all its wilderness, but equally well placed if you need to do daily runs to the shops for provisions, or rainy day options for entertaining children” Additional Information: Bespoke fittings enhance every room in The Farmer’s Loft, mixing with hand-picked vintage and retro pieces to give character and warmth to the space. As you’d expect from a property owned by Grizedale Arts, the apartment is thoughtfully decorated with original and unique art and crafts, with many pieces made on site in the inn’s own studio workshops or curated from Grizedale Arts’ extensive collection. Meticulous attention has been given to providing all the conveniences you need to make your stay comfortable. All this, just a few minutes from the historic Stable Bar in the oldest part of the inn and the outdoor pizza oven which will be cranking out delicious food every weekend. Guests are welcome to enjoy the inn’s garden at all times, and can expect a warm welcome at the bar when they venture downstairs from the Loft. Guest access We have a large carpark for guests travelling separately and needing parking for several cars. We are located close to the main road network providing easy access to all areas of the Lake District National Park. Our keysafe access affords guest maximum convenience. Other things to note Grizedale Arts (reg. charity 1076662) saved The Farmer's Arms, completing the purchase during the Covid pandemic in spring 2021 with the support of the local community and many international donors. This much-loved historic Grade II listed property has transformed into a creative and industrious hub. Working with crafts people, designers, artists, local businesses and our community, we have refurbished the Stable Bar and gardens (including a wood-fired pizza oven). An onsite Honest Shop sells local makers wears, baking, crafts and other collectibles. Our guests often get involved in our regular programme of activities for all ages including pottery courses, film schools and more. Many also make use of our drop-in workshops and pottery spaces situated below the Loft during their stay, learning new skills to take back home with them. The best part about staying with us is that you'll support our ongoing development, helping us save this important part of our local community's history for future generations.
