The Artist’s Cottage is a beautiful Grade II listed building built in 1483. Located in the heart of Rye’s historic citadel area this cottage is ideally situated for exploring the town and accessing the surrounding coast and countryside. The space The Artist's Cottage is a large three bedroom cottage situated in the heart of the citadel area of Rye. The cottage boasts a wealth of original features, beams and fireplaces – alongside refurbished kitchen/bathrooms. In recent history, the property has been owned by a string of artists - hence the name - with an art gallery in the front room (now a games room). The property itself is certainly quirky and full of character. We have tried to balance the historic nature of the cottage with modern conveniences and a games room (for children and adults alike!) Guest access The rental is for the whole cottage. Whilst being ancient in age (built in 1483) the cottage is modernised and spacious with many rooms to explore, including a small outside roof space. Other things to note The cottage comfortably sleeps six guests in its three bedrooms but can also accommodate larger parties if required (using two trundle and a sofa bed). For more than six guests please contact us to discuss your requirements. We charge £15 per night for any extra guests (to cover use of trundle/sofa bed and extra laundry). As well as the main living (lounge & kitchen) and sleeping spaces (3 bedrooms) there are other spaces within the property for your use. The games room has a table football table, a TV and PS4 (with games). In addition, stairs from the kitchen lead up to a lovely wooden-floored mezzanine space, perfect as a quieter area with French doors opening onto a small roof space.
