Originally the coach house for the historic Whangaimoana House this little cottage has been converted to very snug accommodation for two people. Tucked in behind the big house the cottage has its own little private courtyard with outdoor table, chairs, and BBQ. Using an open plan design you can relax in front of the open fire or lie in bed watching the flickering flames. When you awake in the morning to the song of the tuis and bellbirds you can cook your bacon and farm fresh eggs in the complete kitchen. The fridge is stocked with all the food you need for a large country breakfast, especially the freshly ground Supreme coffee. There is always home baking and fresh garden flowers supplied. There is a separate lavatory and the shower room has a wall heater and heated towel rail. A new feature is the installaion of FREEVIEW television. The very rugged, but beautiful coastline has much to offer. Just 10 minutes drive takes you to the Pinnacles, an unusual land formation, where some of the Lord of the Rings was filmed. Further on you will pass through the fishing village of Ngawi and then on to the Cape Palliser lighthouse and the largest seal colony on mainland New Zealand. The coastal road is ideal biking and the Palliser Bay water is renowned for diving and fishing. Your choices for evening dining are; a night in, a half hour drive to Martinborough for the award winning restaurants and wines or the Lake Ferry hotel with its fish menu just 5 minutes drive.
