Unique, 3 bedroom, ex-forester's cottage in the idyllic, small village of Satterthwaite, within Grizedale Forest Park. Ideal for those seeking the thrill of mountain biking or the peaceful, quiet enjoyment of the stunningly beautiful area and dark skies. There is free parking for two vehicles and undercover storage for several bicycles. The Eagles Head pub is a short walk away. Hawkshead village, 4 miles away, has a Coop, shops and pubs. The space With views front and back of fields and forest, you will instantly feel the benefit of the peace, quiet and the natural surroundings. Within easy walking distance are forest walks and mountain bike trails which give spectacular views of the Coniston range and other mountains and fells. Close by and ready for exploring are becks and waterfalls, forest sculptures, wildlife including magnificent Furness red deer, badgers, other mammals and birds. Buzzards often soar over the village. The property is spacious with modern kitchen and bathroom, laminate floors throughout the ground floor and two modern, efficient wood burning stoves to supplement the central heating. Please be aware that, due to the unusual construction of the house, the single glazed windows and lack of carpets on the ground floor, it can be quite cool in winter when compared to a modern, well insulated and double glazed house. Also, the floorboards upstairs do creak! There are no street lights in the village so lovely dark skies but bring a torch so you can see the Number 4 and navigate from the car to the front door safely. There is very little, if any mobile signal for some networks in the house or the village so your mobile phone may only work via the wifi. For the safety of guests and myself, I don’t have back to back booking. Cleaning is done in accordance with best practice and Airbnb guidance. Safety is paramount.
