Description
Yurt stay in a Yorkshire small holding. Comfy king bed with a wood/ coal burning fire, microwave, kettle, fridge. Separate shower and toilet in the old dairy. Situated in a 4 acre field, with lovely views. Sharing the field with our friendly sheep, chickens and Moustaches the cat. Semi- rural location 25 mins’ walk from Todmorden centre and the train station. This is more camping vibe than glamping. Ideal for walkers or people wanting to get to the countryside without a car. Pls read full info The space We lived in this yurt for 18 months while we did up our house - it’s now available for your pleasure! Toilet and shower are in the former dairy outhouse which is located at the top of the field. The fridge is also there when it’s too hot to be in the yurt! There is a large step up to the outhouse which will not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues. We’re on The Calderdale Way so it is not totally isolated and we get walkers passing via the path at the top of the field - especially on a sunny day. You will likely hear and see lots of birds including Tawny Owls and often we have deer (eating my trees!) and always plenty of rabbits. There is a trainline at the bottom of the field and you will hear the train pootling along but I don’t find it intrusive - occasionally a steam train passes by. A bbq is available (byo bbq coal) and a wood / coal burning stove. You - can bring your own wood kindling and *smokeless* coal or buy from us. Only smokeless coal allowed though as Smokey coal can cause a fire in the chimney. Washing machine and dryer are also available for longer stays at extra charge (longer stays only recommended for the hardy!) The cooking facilities available are a microwave, kettle and toaster a toasty maker and bbq. I find the yurt to be a very pleasant space but it is fairly basic and more of a camping vibe than glamping, but with a comfy bed and electricity, a table and chairs etc. Wellies and head torches are advised. It can be cold at night - esp in early summer - so bring pjs, fill up the hot water bottle or be prepared to make the fire. Fire does toast the place up pretty quickly and smokeless coal lasts many hours. You can check yourself in, there are instructions in the toilet and yurt which you should read. Kids are welcome but there are some hazards so best to discuss first. My cat moustaches can enter the yurt through the cat flap so only book if you are a cat fan. :-) we also have sheep and chickens. Lambing in May. Sheep might be in the field with you or sectioned off. They might come up to you if they think you have food. Please don’t give them any food though :-) Please arrange parking with us - there is a space in front of our house if we know in advance. The road up is a private road and as a consequence it is badly maintained and a very bumpy ride! No dogs I’m afraid. I do love them but sheep and moustaches not fans. Please don’t book this as a present or surprise for someone else - it stresses me out! Please only book if you yourself are coming. Ta! :-) Guest access I have a washing machine in the outhouse which is where the toilet and shower are so I can be in there sometimes. I also have some stuff stored in there. I have said that the Post Lady can use the outside loo- as no fun driving around needing a wee! Other things to note It’s a small holding so muddy, dusty, animals are around, we might be in the field if we need to round them up etc. Generally I find that any nice clothes I wear around here get ruined! Field is hilly and lots of obstacles/ tripping hazards about!
