Hattiesburg's Hidden Cottage is the perfect respite after a day of travel, or a place to rest and recharge after seeing all that Hattiesburg has to offer. We are conveniently located near downtown, the University of Southern Mississippi, William Carey University, Forrest General and Merit Wesley Hospitals. The Midtown Market is just a few blocks away, and there are numerous restaurants within walking distance. Send us a quick note if you have questions. Our home is fresh, spacious and modern, but with a lot of the original charm still in place, like the glass doorknobs on all the interior doors and the original squeaky hardwood floors throughout. The furnishings are all new. Both beds have memory foam surfaces and are very comfortable. We also provide a pack-n-play crib in the king bedroom with clean bedding as well as a high chair for the little one. Let us know you need them so we can have them set out for you. The location is very convenient whether you're visiting Hattiesburg for work or play. The home is centrally located to downtown, Midtown Market, Southern Miss, William Carey, restaurants and bars and several breweries. Walk to Kamper Park & Zoo and Serengeti Springs Waterpark. Our home is nestled in a bike and pedestrian friendly neighborhood not too far from the Longleaf Trace, and with easy access to major roads and interstates. Listen carefully and you'll faintly hear the train whistle on the kiddie ride at the nearby zoo. The home is set off the road, with flowering trees buffering you from people passing by. You'll see folks walking their dogs or riding bicycles on the sidewalk, as there is a walking/bike route just a few steps away. You'll have access to: ☑ Free High Speed Internet with fast Wi-Fi ☑ Keurig Coffee maker with a variety of flavors provided ☑ Free parking on site, just steps from the door ☑ Washer and Dryer located inside the home with starter washing detergent ☑ 50" Smart TV setup for Netflix, Amazon Prime, ESPN, and an antenna giving you around 20 channels in High Definition, plus several more Roku apps included for your viewing pleasure. We provide a subscription for the D-Stream and ESPN+ apps. ☑ All linens, towels, blankets provided ☑ Full set of dishes, silverware, cookware provided for your use ☑ Refrigerator, Oven, Stove, Microwave, Toaster, Keurig Single Serve Coffee Maker ☑ Iron and Ironing Board provided ☑ Hair Dryer ☑ Toilet Paper, Soaps, Shampoo, Conditioner Our hope is you'll find our home provides an experience which exceeds most hotel rooms at a comparable cost. Please reach out if you have questions about what is available in the house. Guests will have private access to all areas of the home, with the exception of a locked maid's closet. The parking area is shared with two cottages out back, but there is ample parking for 2 guest vehicles up to the size of a large SUV. If you need to bring a larger vehicle, there is alternate parking available .03 miles away. I'm only a short message away if you need me, or I can remain totally un-involved once you arrive. Let yourself in with our keyless electronic lock and your own private code. Our home is located centrally to Downtown, Midtown, 2 Universities, 2 hospitals, several golf courses, tennis courts, walking/biking trails, restaurants, and most other amenities within Hattiesburg. Our downtown has undergone a revitalization and is thriving. You'll find plenty to do - like coffee shops, museums, the historic Saenger Theatre, nightlife including live music, exciting bars, microbreweries, breakfast diners, cafes, as well as nice dinner options. The Midtown District is also a short distance away (less than a mile) and it is bustling with many new and locally owned shops and restaurants. The city zoo, playground and tennis courts are a short walk away from our home, at just .03 miles or about 3 city blocks. If you listen closely, you can faintly hear the train whistle on the kiddie ride as it makes its route around the park. Everything is within just a few minute's drive (usually less than 10 minutes) and traffic is really easy to navigate in Hattiesburg. The train depot, located in Downtown, is less than 2 miles away. There are 2 small airports within 20 minutes' drive and both New Orleans and Jackson airports are located within 1.5 hours' drive. *The City of Hattiesburg is currently upgrading water lines in the area, so you may encounter patches of road that are in various states of repair. * There are two small cottages located behind the main house (the one you're looking at). One of those two cottages is occupied by a very quiet and respectful young man. The other cottage is used for storage and is awaiting renovation. * All entrances require steep steps with no railings and could be difficult for some guests to access. * It is important that you park in the rear of the home in order to access the home by way of the rear door, which has an electronic smart lock. * Please note that the driveway is shared with the tenant from the small cottage out back. Please do not block the driveway. * Please note that the parking area at the rear of the home is composed of gravel and the surface may be uneven or may be hard to walk in while wearing heels. * Please note that this home was built in 1945 and as such, some floors may creak. * Please note that local code requires our shower water to be no hotter than 120 degrees. While this is hot enough for some, others who like really, really hot water may wish for hotter water. * Please note that Mississippi is hot and humid sometimes even in the fall. We've installed a new (2023) HVAC, and we also have a large window unit in the side porch off the living room. Between these two, even on 100 degree days, the temps can be maintained around 69 to 70 degrees inside. * Please note that insects will occasionally find their way inside our home, especially if you leave the doors open for any length of time. If you see any, (particularly ladybugs or pink gecko lizards), feel free to let them be, or shoo them outside where they can thrive.
