Description

This historic private farmhouse sits on 70 acres surrounded by trees and beautiful grounds on Lake Muskoka. Walk the path through the trees just a few steps to your 60 foot private dock and jump in Lake Muskoka - ready for a dip, your boat or just hanging in Muskoka chairs in comfort. The farmhouse overlooks green spaces that frequently see deer come by and graze. After a day in the lake, chill at the bonfire pit or on the deck watching the sunset over the grounds. The space This extraordinary and historic farmhouse (The E.B. Sutton Camp) has been reimagined with a sophisticated aesthetic and a huge sense of uber cool. It is a visual treat. In the summer it is a sensational cottage estate. In the fall, a remarkable cozy yet indulgent farmhouse for the perfect long weekend. The main floor has a modern kitchen with a separate sitting area perfect for morning coffee, or just lounging reading the paper. There is a 'chill room' which is a beautiful room full of windows we call "the obsession room" because the owner is obsessed with it (maybe spin some vintage vinyl), a dining room which is a remarkable library packed with thousands of books and the Great Room and fireplace area which is the heart of the space. Upstairs are four bedrooms and the washroom. Sonos music system is installed throughout the main floor and easily managed by the app and the TV in the Great Room is a full 5.1 theatre built-in installation. This property is like staying in a boutique private estate house in lake country. The art, collectibles and quirky objects have provided a "private club" feel. There are also vintage Airstreams available that can be setup for massage treatments or additional accommodation with advance planning! The Airstreams are setup only with advance planning and additional payment. The waterfront and dock have an expansive view over the waters of Lake Muskoka and Acton Island and the water is sandy at the shore and 10' at the end of the dock (perfect for cannonballs or slow slips in!). Stroll the treed walking path connecting the farmhouse and the dock, a relaxing destination for just chilling, swimming, and kayaking (provided). The dock can also easily accommodate boats. Note that you cannot see the dock from the farmhouse - unless you can see through trees! The farmhouse has a breezy feel that embraces the uneven floors and odd 125 year old doors and asks guests to leave their worries elsewhere and immerse themselves in a quiet, unique space intended most to encourage visitors to relax. On some angles you are in a historic farmhouse and others, a sophisticated New York City apartment. You are reminded that this is NOT a modern build but a true historic building that has equally historic imperfections and quirks that the owners embrace as part of the organic and special nature of the property. At the same time, the water is UV treated and filtered and delicious, the dishwasher an uber quiet Bosch, the sheets wonderful and so on. A mix of old charm and modern amenities. You can easily imagine this property in a magazine - oozing cool, charming and comfortable - Tesla destination charger on site - complimentary of course. Guest access The farmhouse, trails, and farm waterfront & dock are yours to enjoy. Other things to note Muskoka is full of things to do! Just a few minutes to Port Carling, Port Sandfield and Bala - and not far to Gravenhurst, Rosseau or Bracebridge. There is a ski show in Bala on Tuesday nights at 7pm which attracts hundreds of people each week - it’s pretty cool. FOOD!!!! Just 6 minutes south from the farmhouse is the Clear Lake Brewery in Torrance (which is awesome). In Bala (just four mins away) there is The Bala Falls Pub (owners Jacinta and Dave have made it THE hub of Bala and are famous for their Thursday night wings), Castle Blue has about the best dry ribs we’ve ever thrown in our food hatch! Jack and Stella’s - a new addition to Bala is also just five minutes away and fantastic (thanks to Jack Fice and his wife Heather). With tables on the dock, great coffee, cool swag, awesome sandwiches and Terroni peppers and wine for sale. In Port Carling, also just a few minutes away, there are an abundance of food options including a very well cared for Foodland as well as Field of Greens (and proprietor Dave Kitchen) for dirt grown vegetables and other goodies. Basically the location lends itself to accessing everything conveniently.
