Wildwood Studio: beach access, pets, horses

A charming studio on a 40 acre, forested estate. A 5 minute walk through woodland trails to our pristine, private Puget Sound beach, or drive 2 min to the lighthouse beach at Pt. Robinson Park. This fully furnished, light-filled studio sleeps 2 in a comfy queen bed, has a wood stove (wood provided), a full kitchen, bath with shower, picnic area and propane barbecue. Horses graze outside your window; wildlife abounds. Pets welcome with $45/1 or $60/2 fee. A non-smoking property. The space Enjoy a peaceful, restorative getaway just a 20 minute ferry ride from Seattle, Tacoma, or Southworth. The rustically-decorated, clean, studio is ideal for one or two people. There is a fully-equipped kitchen, wood stove (wood provided) and access through trails to our private beach. Enjoy coffee on the covered porch and watch horses graze nearby. Grill on the barbecue (propane provided) and eat a relaxing meal in the picnic area in the forest or at the beach. Decorated with various old tools, antique skis, skates and sleds, heirloom trophies (from great grandpa's collection), birch tree table legs and bed posts, wine casks from the Italian family vineyard, oil lamps, and other "lodgey" decor, it is an unforgettable place. Horses graze on the pasture outside your window. The property has been designed and meticulously maintained by the same family for over 30 years. The goal has been to preserve the natural beauty of the woodlands and to protect the ecology of the forested landscape for the native flora & fauna: deer, eagles, hawks, heron, raccoons, owls, frogs, woodpeckers, etc. make the property their home. Ideal for birdwatching, exploring the shoreline and aquatic life at the beach, or simply relaxing by the fire in the unique space. With Point Robinson Lighthouse Park just a few minutes walk through tranquil trails or a 2 minute drive away, you are invited to explore the magic of Vashon/Maury islands from this memorable location. At the beach you might see seals, sea lions, otter, heron, kingfisher, and occasionally even Orca, Humpback or Gray whales. If you have a party larger than 2, the Wildwood Coach House (690 sq.ft. ) is located on the opposite side of the barn and may be rented separately. It has a queen bed in the bedroom, a queen sofa sleeper in the living area, two twin pads on the floor upstairs for kids full kitchen and claw foot bathtub. There is a shower, a barbecue/picnic area outside, a wood stove with firewood provided and maximum occupancy is 6. Also available on adjoining property is Vashon Loft and Beach, which sleeps 4, with a water view and it's own beach access and waterfront picnic area. You can also book the entire property, (see the Vashon Field & Pond Event Venue listing) for weddings and other special events during the summer months. Dogs that can be easily controlled on a leash are welcome, but must be leashed at all times, everywhere on the property for the protection of wildlife, cats, horses, rabbits, chickens and ducks. Always take your pet with you when you leave the studio. There is an additional $45 de-allergen deep cleaning fee for pets, and a maximum of 2 pets. PLEASE NOTE: Some summer weekends are blocked until May 1 for scheduling weddings/reunions/film & photo shoots and other event use. Don't worry: when Vashon Field and Pond is holding an event we don't rent the Coach House and Studio to guests outside the event, so you'll have peace and quiet during your visit. Guest access Access information will be sent as soon as your Airbnb reservation is confirmed. The door code will be the last four digits of your phone number. You can come and go anytime thanks to the miracles of wifi lock technology! There are spring and fall Open Studio Art tours, musical performances, theater, dance performances, Strawberry Festival (July), wineries and cideries, Seattle Distilling Co., Westside Stables and Island Center Farm for riding lessons, trail rides, and pony rides, the Sheepdog Classic dog trials, and lots more throughout the year. Private yoga/meditation/massage can be arranged during your stay. Check in is 3 pm. Check out is 11 am. Early departure/late arrival can sometimes be arranged if no one is booked before or after your stay. Bring a pair of cozy slippers with you, and footwear for hiking about the forest and beach (rubber/waterproof boots in winter & spring!). If you want beach towels for summertime, please bring your own. If you are interested in visiting Starbuck the minature horse up close, please let us know - he loves attention! Other things to note For the safety and peace of the wildlife, horses, and neighboring llamas, sheep, goats, chickens, rabbits and ducks, DOGS MUST BE LEASHED at all times. There is an additional fee for pets because of the de-allergen deep cleaning that happens after a pet leaves and the additional wear and tear. Please leave it upon your departure if the fee wasn't paid at the time of booking. *You may want to bring slippers, beach towels, rubber boots and hiking boots with you. Flat, waterproof shoes or boots are recommended for the outdoor terrain, especially in the winter and spring. *Oil, balsamic vinegar, tea, coffee, salt, pepper and sugar are supplied, as are all basic kitchen utensils, a French Press for coffee (takes regular/medium grind coffee) dishes, silverware, pots/pans, bbq propane & tools, firewood for the wood stove, napkins, paper towels, toilet paper, bath & hand towels, linens, & soap. If there's anything you need during your stay, (if you forgot a critical spice, toothpaste, or something!) please let us know - we probably have it. Thriftway is the main grocery store, and it's a 12 min. drive away in the town of Vashon.
