You may relax on a bench in the shaded gardens, or do some outdoor grilling on the double broiler in our picnic area. Master BR has a King bed for 2, which is adjoined to Bedroom 3, which has a has a twin day bed (or may serve as an adjunct room to create a Master suite); BR 2 has a Queen bed for 2 (with an additional window seat that can serve as a toddler bed); and 3 twin beds under skylights in an open loft reached by library ladder! Guests should consider the convenience of one bathroom. Our family cottage was built in the 1920s, redesigned in the 1990s and updated more recently, retaining at its heart the original rafters and open ceiling, brick hearth and chimney built by our grandfather. It is appointed with all modern amenities, comfortable furniture and interesting decor. Families from Washington, DC flocked to the Chesapeake Bay to escape the heat of the city, enjoy summers by the water and outdoors. Today, we enjoy all four seasons at the cottage; we hope you will, too. Guest access Outside, you will have access to a wide deck with teak furniture and umbrella; a screened porch with seating in wicker chairs, and an Italian tile dining table with seating for 8; a double broiler gas grill, picnic table and outdoor seating in one area; park bench in shaded areas. Indoors, you have access to a fully-equipped kitchen; comfortably furnished home; many board games, and all linens and towels. The washer/dryer are in a separate utility room. Other things to note We expect guests to follow the posted checklist on departure, and to leave the cottage as they found it. The closest grocery is about 20 minutes away, so it may be most convenient to bring your groceries with you before arrival. We stock some staples for your use: oil and vinegar; salt and pepper.
