Drumena Cottage, built in traditional Irish style, is a truly peaceful and comfortable getaway, with stunning views of the beautiful mountains of Mourne. Situated only minutes away from Castlewellan and Tollymore Forest Parks, it is surrounded by fields and its own expansive garden, with its own private off-the-road parking. Drumena Cottage is now fondly known as home of 'Dear Imelda', a wonderful, heartwarming short movie, set in the beautiful Kingdom of Mourne, now streaming on Disney+. The space The cottage is finished to a very high standard, has a fully fitted kitchen and bathroom, and an open fire in the sitting room, to enjoy on a cold winter’s evening. The cottage is 2-storeys and comfortably sleeps 6 adults. The ground floor has 1 double room and 1 twin room (2 steps up to the bedrooms). The first floor has 1 double room and an optional further bedroom (which is suitable for 2 children and available on request.) The garden has an area where you can light a fire, toast marshmallows and make smores, light the BBQ and enjoy the amazing mountain views. Drumena provides an ideal base for exploring the beautiful County of Down, with its fabulous beaches at Newcastle and Murlough Nature Reserve, its magical forest parks of Tolleymore, Castlewellan and Kilbroney, the beautiful villages of Rostrevor, Warrenpoint and Carlingford (a short ferry crossing from Greencastle) and is perfect for venturing into the mountains to discover the blue loughs, reservoirs and craggy summits of the Mournes. Activities abound on your doorstep, from pony trekking to mountain biking, paddle-boarding to golfing, hiking to road biking, and even a trip to the local Whitewater Brewery in Castlewellan – there is something for all ages and stages. Whilst it is a great place to get some peace and quiet, and switch off from it all, we are delighted to be able to offer our guests access to Wi-Fi.
