Description

Thank you for viewing Prospect House. We have a one bedroom ground floor flat (with the bedroom above the ground floor sitting room). This is part of our 1850 Georgian detached family house. The flat has separate entrance from the main house, but entrance to the property is from the same gates. It is close to buses into the city centre, a small convenience store and pub nearby. The famous Waterford Glass Crystal factory & shop is only 10 - 12 minutes drive away. The space This house is a historic Georgian house from 1850 built by Lionel Richardson, J. Lionel Richardson Gold Medal Daffodils, Waterford, Ireland, 1941 – 1963, J. Lionel Richardson was one of the premier daffodil breeders of his era. Guest access The rooms you rent and the garden around the house. As there is renovation there will be areas 'out of bounds' from time to time. Other things to note RENOVATION OF PROSPECT HOUSE: Our house is going through major renovation after decades of neglect by previous owners. There WILL be building work going on from time to time, there will be rubble piles on the outside of the property and building materials. So we apologise in advance about this - we'll do our best to keep it all quiet and peaceful while you are with us. The front of the house is a project in particular taking a very long time to renovate and this work is largely impossible during winter months so it does not always look as nice as we would wish. We will always make sure the rooms themselves within are clean and tidy for your stay. Please note that these rooms are part of a family house, it is not a 5 star hotel. We will give a friendly welcome and do our best to help you enjoy your stay. LOCAL SHOPS: Supermarkets Supervalu and Lidl are about 10 minutes drive away. HEATING: During winter months we have central heating for a couple of hours at the start of the day and through the evening at the end of the day - the heating is not 24 hours and is not to 5 star hotel standard. This is an 1850’s house and as such please do not expect perfection in this. We are trying hard to respect the environment and not waste energy and hope our guests will respect that. We are happy to increase the time the heating is on to accommodate a guest's needs but guests should note that if heating is required the whole time our costs (just for the heating) will go above the nightly room cost and we reserve the right to charge for additional heating. WIFI: We have Wifi extenders in each set of rooms. These are pre-set and should there be any problem, contact us, please do not 'fiddle' with them as damage is likely to occur and we reserve the right to charge for replacing the extender. Wifi is not perfect in rural Ireland and is affected with heavy rain and storms. So please be aware that drop-outs and problems do happen from time to time. We will always do our best to help if there is a problem, just contact us if there is an issue. USE OF OUR ROOMS: Please note these rooms are not meant to be a working place, they are offered as overnight accommodation, so we remind guests that Wifi is not 'office standard' and heating in winter months is not all day and all night. We do provide a desk and chairs for occasional use. RUBBISH: We can take four types of rubbish: 1) ‘rinsed out’ tins, glass bottles and jars, 2) ‘rinsed’ plastic, 3) paper and cardboard, 4) food waste (in the compost bins which we will point out) – note: food waste must not have paper, plastic, tissues, teabags and non compostable items. PARKING: No problem at Prospect House provided we are warned in advance. TRANSPORT: By car: approximately 8 minutes to the city centre, and 12 - 15 minutes to Waterford Plunkett Train station. By bus: W3 (used to be called 602) bus goes every 20 minutes weekdays, every 20 - 30 minutes at weekends on Old Tramore Road into the city. We are about an hour and a half from Rosslare Ferry terminal to UK and France. Just over 2 hours to Cork Airport, 3 - 4 hours to Dublin airport (traffic is very variable).
