The space No. 17 is a charming duplex townhouse with one of the most enviable addresses in Mdina — Malta’s ancient capital and iconic ‘Silent City’. Overlooking St. Paul’s Square and the Cathedral, this historic home sits truly inside Mdina’s walled heart — a rare chance to stay where nobles and bishops once gathered, with cafés, quiet alleys, and landmarks just steps away. Lovingly renovated with tasteful touches, No. 17 is perfect for two to three guests seeking calm and character, but can host up to four using a flexible sofa bed and folding bed. The townhouse is spread over two levels, connected by a traditional spiral staircase. The ground floor opens to a bright dining area with a circular table, plenty of natural light, and a well-equipped kitchen with oven, hob, fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle, washing machine and ironing board. A shower room with separate WC completes the lower floor. Upstairs, the spacious bedroom has two single beds that can be joined to form a large double, with views directly onto the Cathedral. The adjoining living area has cozy sofas — the perfect spot to relax, read one of the books or maps we provide, and watch Mdina’s timeless square go by. A real highlight is the balcony — accessible from both the bedroom and living room — perfect for morning coffee or sunset people-watching over the main square. Extra sleeping options include a folding bed in the upstairs living room and a sofa bed in the dining area, but please note privacy may be limited for extra guests since the living area connects directly to the main bedroom. Guest access Guests have full and exclusive access to the entire property. There are no shared spaces. Other things to note For people that book for a few nights we are happy to prepare a small welcome package with some traditional food and drinks from Malta including a local wine favoured by the locals. Phone signal may be limited due to Mdina’s thick walls — we recommend using Wi-Fi apps for calls and messages. An eco-tax of €0.50 per adult per night (max €5 per stay) is collected for each stay, as required by law.
