Dory Cottage

Historic timber cottage on the highest point in the village, just a short walk to the waters edge and all the Bay's attractions. Cosy, comfortable and fully fenced for children and pets. The space Dory Cottage was originally a one room school at Glastonbury, west of Gympie. It was moved to Tin Can Bay after the school closed in the 1960s and has been our much loved bay escape since the 1990s. We've retained the charm of the original building and used a lot of paint and gap filler to make it the comfortable, back to basics (no dishwasher no internet) cottage you see today with the added luxury of a newly installed 7kw air conditioner It has a large fully fenced garden with plenty of room for play. Old fashioned outdoor games (quoits, badminton, croquet) are there for you to use and also books and indoor games ( Boggle, Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, Monopoly) coloured pens and paper if you'd rather stay inside. There is a gas barbecue for cooking outside and a firepit (an old Weber) if you feel like sitting round the 'campfire'. Please BYO firewood. If you're looking for a peaceful escape, a real old fashioned family time, this is the place to be. Other things to note In summer mosquitoes and sandflies are around, even though we are high on the hill and enjoy the best bay breezes. There is insect repellant spray in the bathroom and we also provide the plug-in type in all the bedrooms to keep those buzzy things out of the house. We have a Porta-cot available on request. It can fit either in the main bedroom or the sleepout.
