Description

Beam Cottage is our much loved home in the heart of Topsham. It is decorated with an eclectic mix of modern and antique furniture, with accents collected from around the world, and a new kitchen fitted. It’s a 3 minute walk into the very centre of Topsham; with off-road parking for 2-3 cars, and a decking area to use in the summer, Beam Cottage is the perfect place to stay in central Topsham. *WE HAVE 2 CATS WHO WILL REQUIRE FEEDING PLEASE DO NOT BOOK IF YOU DON’T LIKE CATS* Strictly no dogs. The space Our cats - Otis & Shaggy - will be around and need feeding please. If you were out for the day and unable to feed them, we have good neighbours who I can arrange to come and feed the boys, so don’t feel that you’re tied to being around. The brand new kitchen is the heart of the house, and quite unique with it’s gorgeous beam detail from floor to ceiling. We both love to cook so it’s a well-stocked kitchen including a Rangemaster, convection oven, Nutribullet, toaster, dishwasher, barista coffee machine, and Soda Stream. We have a large wooden dining table that can seat up to 10 so it’s perfect for group meals, board games, or just reading the paper. There are two living rooms which is perfect for having two different activities in the evening (ie. One room watching sport, the other reading a book by the fire), both are cosy and spacious so plenty of space for more games, movies, reading books, and just hanging out in front of the fire with a glass of wine. We have Sky Sports, TNT Sport (BT Sport), Amazon Prime, Virgin, and Apple TV. You can log into your own accounts too. The main living room has a 23” television, and a log burner. The second living room is known as the ‘Dan cave’ and boasts an original fireplace feature (sadly the chimney isn’t in use in this one), a 50” television, and a desk for any work or study that needs to happen while you’re here. Both have plenty of comfy seating! We have fibre broadband that two of us work from home with. The downstairs bathroom is accessed through the Dan Cave and includes a shower and toilet. The bedrooms are all light, airy and spacious. The two at the front of the house benefit from morning sunshine, and are close to the main bathroom which includes a jacuzzi bath. The master bedroom has much higher ceilings and benefits from a velux skylight. There is a small bathroom with a toilet and shower just behind it, and access to downstairs through a second set of stairs that link into the kitchen. There’s a utility room off the kitchen which also serves as a porch to the back door - we tend to use this as our main entrance and we ask that you take your shoes off here. The washing machine and tumble drier are out here. If you’re entering through the front of the house there is a porch there where shoes can be left. We just ask that you don’t leave the door open as the main road is very busy and if the cats bolted out there they would be disoriented and in danger. In the summer, the outside decking area is the perfect place for BBQ’s, and there’s a table tennis table that can be used in the warmer months. Guest access You’ll have access to all of the house listed. We have a fourth bedroom which also serves as my office which we leave locked . Other things to note We have two gorgeous cats: Otis & Shaggy. They will require feeding, and like a bit of fuss once they’re relaxed but may be anxious at first and avoid you, hiding under beds/sofas. They have a catflap which is set automatically to let them in and out between certain hours. We normally do not allow them in the bedrooms, but you are welcome to if you’d like to, and if you prefer you can keep the kitchen doors closed so they can only come as far as the kitchen and not in the living rooms. Otis & Shaggy were rescued and adopted by us as kittens just a month before the first lockdown, so aren’t used to having lots of people around. Once they’ve been fed by you and gotten used to having you around, they love some fuss or to chase a piece of string around. Please be careful when using the front door to do not let them out onto the main road - they’ve never been that way as the cars can be very fast so it would be very scary, disorienting, and dangerous for them.
