Recently refurbished 4 bedroom chalet suitable for 8 people in Villars-Gryon. Stunning views, walking distance to everything you need (400 m to lift, train station, tourist information, bakery, supermarket, ski rental, restaurant, 200m to playground). The space Chalet " Le Cairn " is a new refurbished chalet, located in the Swiss Alps not far from Lake Geneva. The chalet has stunning views and is within walking distance to everything you need on a vacation in the mountains. In winter you can ski directly to the chalet and it is just 400 meters to the cable-car ski-lift. The local train station, tourist information, bakery, small supermarket, ski rental, restaurant and super playground are located just 200 meters from the chalet. Guest access The resort of Villars/Gryon shares its ski area with the neighbouring town of Les Diablerets. The ski area rises up to a glacier at 3,200 m. There is a good mix of terrain for all levels. There are some beautiful runs for intermediate skiers through trees back down to the village. There are more challenging trails, including several decent black runs for expert skiers. For beginners there are slopes located at village level and up in the ski area. There are two ski schools. The chalet is located 200 meters from the end of the piste which ends in Gryon / Barboleuse . If you are a skilled skier, you can continue the last 200 meters of skiing down a small path. The lift is 400 meters from the chalet and connects you to the 220 km pist of Villars / Gryon / Les Diablerets. Furthermore, there are approx. 50 km of beautiful cross-country ski trails, snowshoe routes, winter walking trails, sleigh rides (one of Switzerland's longest). There is also ice skating, paragliding, hang gliding, touring ski routes. All in all, a winter mecca. The small ice-skating rink is 200 m from the chalet where you will also find ski rental, bakery, tourist information, restaurants and a small but well supplied supermarket. Other things to note You can go for a walk (1 km) down to a really nice authentic mountain village called Gryon. Here there are several restaurants and small shops. If you want a slightly larger selection of shops and restore, you can go to Villars-sur-Ollon approx. 4 km away. This is a more fashionable and touristic mountain town, but still cosy. From Villars, there is also the opportunity to take the train up to the same ski area as the one you can access from the cable-car lift close to the chalet. There is a free ski area for beginners and children, and there is even a ski kindergarden. Lift Pass: The local lift pass covers Villars, Les Diablerets and Gryon. Total ski area – 220 km, number of runs – 117, longest run - 12km. Childcare: La Trottinette offers a nursery service for children up to age 5, and there are a number of private babysitters in the resort. Ski lessons are available for ages 3 and up. Shopping: There are some small shops in the main street selling ski and sporting equipment, clothing, toys, antiques, gifts and souvenirs, and there are regional food shops including local butchers and bakers, and a newsagent. Dining: Restaurants and hotels in Villars offer local Swiss and classic French food, as well as Mexican and Italian. There is also a choice of several eateries on the mountain that offer both quality dining as well as simple rustic food. Town Services: The town is full of traditional chalet-style architecture as well as shops, bars, restaurants and hotels.
