Chez Lussaud is a beautiful 300 year old private hamlet located in the southern tip of the Charente. Set in 8 acres of gardens, woods & open spaces, it is the perfect place to kick off your shoes, relax & take in the views. Le Four a Pain is one of two boutique gites with private garden, your own wood-fired hot tub & shared pool. Holidays are very precious, our aim is for you to go home completely relaxed & rested, having enjoyed the peace, tranquility & hospitality Chez Lussaud has to offer. The space Le Four a Pain (The Bread Oven) - Sleeps 4/5 This large detached cottage can comfortably accommodate 4 guests in two very comfortable ensuite bedrooms with walk-in showers. A good nights sleep is paramount for our guests, the master bed is a super king with a quality deep sprung mattress & topper. Upstairs in the Loft Chambre, the zip and link bed with deep sprung mattress and topper can be set up as either a super-king or two 3ft singles. (Please advise your preference when booking). We provide good quality 100% Egyptian cotton bedding and towels free of charge. In addition, the mezzanine with its quiet reading area provides a 140cm wide (small double) sprung mattress sofa bed for an additional guest if required (please discuss prior to booking). A travel cot, changing table with integrated baby bath, ‘Tripp Trapp’ high chair and a booster seat can be made available on request when booking, subject to availability. The cottage has a large fully equipped country kitchen with a wood burning stove providing the ideal area to dine and entertain. The dining area has a farmhouse table, and the dresser contains a wide range of glassware and a 8 place setting of beautiful Denby crockery, including serving dishes and oven to tableware. There is a dual aspect lounge with sublime views down the valley cross cornfields on one side, and your private garden to the other. Equipped with a flat screen tv, Freeview UK satellite channels, and comfortably furnished, the lounge provides the perfect area to relax after a day out exploring. Traditional terracotta floors and wood shutters ensure the cottage is cool in the summer months, while full central heating and a large log burner ensures you are warm and comfortable for those out of season breaks. Your first basket of logs is complimentary. The private garden with traditional stone walls, large terrace and soft planting has steps up to a large lawned area with fruit trees, providing shade and seating areas to relax and take in the peace and quiet. The large sun terrace is the perfect home for your own private wood fired hot tub, with air jets and ambient lighting, you can relax in the sun or take in the clear night sky with a glass of wine. The garden is equipped with an awning, table and chairs and a bbq for out door dining. To the right, the cottage garden has a secret ... an enclosed walled garden with climbing roses, a palm tree, an olive tree and an abundance of herbs. Wooden gates from the walled garden open out onto a lavender lined pathway giving you your own private access to the 11.5x5 metre pool and views up the Chatignac valley. The courtyard side of the cottage has a table and chairs set up next to the 300 year old bread oven. This is an ideal spot for a quiet morning cappuccino or a leisurely breakfast. Pool - The pool is 11.5m x 5m with a depth ranging from 1m up to 1.80m in the deep end. Equipped with sun loungers, parasols and a cabana, we also provide pool towels and pool baskets for your stay. The pool is shared with one other gite. Pétanque - there is a Pétanque court, each gite has its own set of boules and garden games for your enjoyment. Parking space is provided for two cars at the front of the cottage. Free fibre WIFI is available. A welcome basket with local Charentise produce is provided on arrival, and when in season, fruit from our trees. Dogs with 'well behaved owners' are welcome (max 2 per gite). Dog bowls and doggy treats provided! The outside terrace has gates at each entrance enabling your dog to be secure in your garden. Please note that while the remaining gardens are private, they are not all fenced off, so leads are required here at all times please. We have a large field and woods at the back which is ideal for dog walking. The owners have two very friendly Golden Retrievers. *Our other property is La Maison du Charpentier Guest access You have access to your whole house, your private garden and the communal gardens, including woods, fields, boules court, badminton, hammocks and swimming pool. Other things to note Pool - The pool is open from 1st May to the first week in October, but this may vary depending on the weather. The pool is not currently heated, the electric safety cover retains heat efficiently overnight. Dogs are not permitted in the pool area. Hot Tubs - Your own wood fired hot tub is available to use all year. The first basket of logs is with our compliments, there is a small charge for additional baskets after that.
