Additionally, the stove and BBQ are gas-operated, so you can continue to enjoy your stay comfortably despite any power cuts imposed by Eskom. Guest access The entire house is accessible through a single main entrance. Other things to note Below is an information directory for the house and some useful information about the area. CANCELLATIONS: • Any cancellation requests must be directed to the rental agent in writing by email. • In case of cancellation a credit will apply for the value of the booking to be used within 12 months from the time of the booking. Rates will vary subject to availability and seasonality. • No refund or discounts will apply for any unused services or terminating the rental lease earlier than confirmed booking. • Full refund for cancellations made within 48 hours of booking, if the check-in date is at least 14 days away. 50% refund for cancellations made at least 7 days before check-in. No refunds for cancellations made within 7 days of check-in. • REBOOKING/ DATES CHANGE REQUEST: If a cancellation request is accompanied by a request to change the dates, a credit will be issued, valid for 12 months. After this period, no refunds or rebooking will be available. Rates may vary depending on availability and season. REFUNDABLE BREAKAGE DEPOSIT To ensure a safe and seamless stay, we’ve partnered with Superhog/Truvi, leading platform for guest verification and damage protection. To switch off alarm: push blue button on key fob once back outside the front door (DO NOT OPEN FRONT DOOR BEFORE TURNING OFF ALARM OR THE ALARM WILL BE TRIGGERED). ELECTRICITY The electrical fuse box is inside the kitchen cupboard containing glasses. For any issues please call Lavinia SAFES There is a safe in each bedroom with operating instructions by the unit. HAIRDRYERS Hairdryers are in the cupboard of each bedroom. CHEF A private chef can be arranged with prior notice for an additional cost – please contact Lavinia. BABYSITTING Babysitting can be arranged by prior notice with Lavinia and Gloria. HEATING There is an underfloor heating dial in the master bedroom which also heats the bathroom floor. All air conditioning units are also equipped with a heating option. Please do not leave doors & windows open when using the AC unit. SWIMMING POOL The swimming pool is heated and is used at your own risk, towels are available in the pool lounge. Children under the age of 12 years old must be supervised at all times. HOUSEKEEPING AND HOUSE STEWARD Housekeeper (Caroline) and House Steward (Matthews) are at the villa from Monday to Friday 09h00 – 16h00 and Saturday morning 09h00 – 12h00. GRATUITY FOR HOUSEKEEPERS We are often asked about tipping for Matthews & Caroline, who are tipped as a team for the services that they provide. Whether you choose to do so is at your discretion. However, for some guidance we recommend the following: One person occupying a bedroom R100 per day and for two people sharing a bedroom R150 per day. This is the suggested total combined tip for Matthews & Caroline. If you have requested additional services such as cooking and serving meals, shopping, laundry and ironing additional gratuity would be appreciated. LAUNDRY AND DRY CLEANING • There is a washing machine and tumble dryer in the utility room. We offer one complimentary load of laundry on the second day of your stay. Please liaise with Christine as Sandpiper can take no responsibility for damage to clothes laundered by us. Linen and towels are changed every third day. • For any additional washing & ironing undertaken by Christine (after the second day of your stay), an additional cost of R100/load will apply – this is to be paid to Lavinia. For dry cleaning: kindly note there is no dry cleaning facility in Camps Bay. Please contact: • Quick Wash Laundry Services. Failure to comply may result in charges being incurred by the tenant to remove smoke odour from the property. If you wish to smoke in the garden there are ashtrays in the utility room (pls ask housekeeper, Caroline). ANIMALS Animals are not permitted anywhere on the premises at any time. WATER South African tap water meets the world health standard and is safe to drink. BANKING Banks and foreign exchange desks can be found in the Waterfront, Sea Point and city centre. National banking hours are: Monday to Friday: 09.00 – 15.30 Saturday: 08.00 – 11.00 There is a cash point machine next to the Pick 'n' Pay a few minutes from the house on the Camps Bay Promenade. CURRENCY A bureau de change is located in Victoria Wharf and the Alfred Mall at The Waterfront. CAR GUARDS While most mean well, unofficial car guards are contravening the law so there is no strict obligation to give any money to a car guard (the usual amount being R5 - R10). In the city centre and certain areas the council charges for parking and the official will issue you with a receipt for your parking. BEACHES Camps Bay Beach: turn left out of the house and walk straight down Geneva Drive. Clifton Beaches: turn right at the end of Geneva Drive onto Victoria Road, continue straight along the front, the four adjacent Clifton beaches are reached after 1km.
