It's close to the adorable little village of Saint-Sauveur, where you can do a little shopping. But the port isn't far either. In short, you'll feel right at home. There's no need to rent a car, you can do it all by bike (rentals at the port, to be arranged in advance of your stay). Guest access You'll arrive by boat from Fromentine La Barre de Monts. And by car (which you leave on the mainland) or train to Fromentine. There's also a helicopter service from Fromentine, but that's not so popular these days, is it?... I'll make a note of it though, for those of you in a hurry who'd like to join the group. Once you're on the island, you'll only be able to get around by bike - no cars needed. It's part of the island's charm that you can forget about your car (and your groceries are delivered to your door). But it's perfectly possible to rent a car on the island. Here's a tip: book your bikes (indicating your departure and return times) as soon as you've booked your boat tickets. The rental companies will drop off your luggage at your home and collect it on the day of your departure. We recommend Biclown (impeccable service and guaranteed breakdown assistance), as they know the area well for luggage drop-off and pick-up. Other things to note You'll have access to every part of the house, except the garages, which you won't need, and a small outdoor shed where we store our personal belongings. A living house: When you arrive (often from a long journey), we want to make you feel as welcome as possible: we always leave a "fonds de maison" in the kitchen and bathrooms. We also leave all our books and DVDs at your disposal, as well as board games. It's a lively house, and we hope you'll feel at home. It was renovated in 2009, except for one of the bathrooms, which is still in its old 1960s state (with old-fashioned tiles) but works very well (new taps) and is very pleasant (large bath). We plan to modernize it, but that hasn't happened yet. I prefer to warn you to avoid any surprises. IMPORTANT: Exit cleaning is included in the rental price (already indicated in the rental price). This cleaning is intended to ensure that the house is left in a clean and tidy condition, with sheets and towels collected in a heap in the kitchen before your departure, and above all with all waste managed according to the island's rules. Compost, recycling, household waste. In the memo, you'll find a specific section on waste. Please read it carefully and make sure it is respected by the occupants of your home. The local council takes the environment seriously and fines all offenders, including holidaymakers just passing through. The rental package includes sheets and one large towel per person. If you require additional linen, please contact us and we will apply the usual laundry charge of 15 euros per person . It is also important to let us know in advance how the rooms are allocated, so that we can prepare the linen for you according to the occupancy of the house.
