Charming vacation home in southern France

F The space At the foot of the southern spur of the Vercors and in the middle of the Drome Valley lies the medieval and botanical village of Chatillon-en-Diois (since 2021 it has belonged to the circle of the "Most Beautiful Villages in France"). Characteristic are the nested, old stone houses and the small winding alleys ("Viols") with their many fountains and former washing reservoirs. The weather is influenced by the Mediterranean and the French Alps. The house is located in the heart of the historic core and was built in the 18th century. Extensive renovations took place in 2012. The aim was to preserve the character of the old house and bring it into harmony with new and modern standards. The house consists of 3 floors: ground floor, first and second floors. A total area of approximately 200 square meters. On the first floor there is a large fully equipped kitchen (dishwasher, oven, induction stove, fridge, microwave) with large dining area (approx. 37 square meters) and a large living room (approx. 40 square meters) with corner sofa (with bed function, 140 cm) and access to the garden (approx. 80 square meters). In the hallway there is a separate toilet (new) and a bathroom with shower (simple equipment, functional). On the second floor are the bedrooms: First bedroom approx. 40 sqm, equipped with a double bed (160 cm) and a double bed (140 cm), desk and wardrobe. There is also a small children's room (approx. 12 square meters) with a bunk bed (2 beds), changing table and toys. In the hallway there is a separate toilet and a bathroom with shower (as on the first floor). Towels and bed linens are available (for an extra charge: 30 euros/bed). Location: about 60 km from the A7 highway (Rhone Valley highway Lyon-Marseille) and 90 km southwest of Grenoble. Shopping/service: In the village there is a small supermarket (Huit a Huit), 2 bakeries, post office, pharmacy, doctor, kiosk, bike rental (3 km away), 3 restaurants (Le Caveau, le Moulin, Dauphiné), 2 cafes, a tourist information office and an ATM. The next largest city is Die, about 15 km away. There are several supermarkets such as Super U, Intermarché and Lidl) as well as gas stations. Activities: The Drome Valley and the Vercors are a paradise for nature lovers and athletically ambitious people. Children and adults will get their money's worth here: hiking (also guided hiking tours with animal observation), cycling, horseback riding, canoeing and kayaking, canyoning, climbing, via ferrata, high ropes courses, etc. In almost every town there is also a public outdoor swimming pool (June-September) If you would like to enjoy good food and wine, you will find some winemakers and many products from our own production in the region. Particularly well known is the Clairette (fruity sparkling wine), lavender honey and various cheeses. Most products are organic and can be found at the weekly markets. (In Chatillon: Friday, Champs de Foire and in Die, Wednesdays and Saturdays, Place de la République) There are also numerous excursion options such as the "Gorges des Gats" (8 km) or the "Claps" in Luc-en-Diois (15 km).
