Centre of Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, sunny cottage

A deceptively large cottage right in the heart of Yarmouth and the many pubs, eateries and shops that it has to offer. You are also just a few minutes walk away from the Solent to one side and the River Yar with the wildlife nature reserve to the other. The space Characterful charming cottage beautifully decorated with exposed brickwork and beams reminding its history as a former butchers. It’s a cosy yet modern cottage with stripped wooden floors throughout. The master bedroom with kingsized bed offers a glimpse of the sea, masked somewhat by the Royal Solent Yacht Club. Just a few steps from the front door, a little alley takes you directly to the most beautiful sea wall, from which you can swim or at low tide wander along to a small beach and Yarmouth pier. The master room has a small WC ensuite and huge windows which can be fully opened to give a feeling of a Juliette balcony. The bunk room sleeps 4 (two bunk beds). A large trunk hosts some toys. There are plenty of books for you to choose from including many for children. Help yourself to a small range of wetsuits and wellies in the cupboard in the bunk room, but please rinse and dry before returning. Downstairs the living area has two large leather sofas and a large high backed storage bench, ideal for storing shoes. Soft lighting offers a calm environment to unwind and perhaps watch the TV (there is good broadband). During the colder months of the year, the log burning stove makes for a lovely atmosphere. There is a plethora of games, books, puzzles and toys in the dining room and upstairs. The dining room has a large glass topped table and an enormous dresser where you find crockery, glasses as well as a range of games / puzzles / picnic bags and rugs. This area leads to a galley kitchen, which is well equipped and offers a SMEG fridge/freezer, washer/drier, dishwasher , wine fridge and a large range electric oven. There are plenty of essentials in a double cupboard (oil, herbs, rice etc) and under the sink you should find plenty of cleaning products. We even have a cordless hoover for easy use. A larger hoover and iron and board are stored upstairs. The bathroom offers a good shower and bath, or you can take a shower outside in the old privy. There’s also a hose outside the French doors, ideal for hosing off muddy paws or sandy toes. Please do water our plants if needed. The walled, sheltered garden is a real sun trap and offers comfy sofa seating, a dining table with sunbrella and a gas BBQ. There are plenty of body boards; footballs; crabbing nets; inflatables, buckets and spades etc in a large storage box. For evenings, the romantic festoon lighting is ideal. There’s plenty of space to store bikes safely in the garden (they do have to be taken through the house however). Dogs are very welcome here. We provide dog bowls (under the kitchen sink). Linen and bath towels are provided. Guest access Please note that, like many properties in Yarmouth, this cottage does not have allocated parking. However we do have a street permit which provides free parking within designated Y1 bays, many of which are within easy reach of the cottage. Availability of these bays is limited especially at busy times. If you do find parking in Y1 it’s ESSENTIAL that you contact me with your registration so that I can log this with the council. Please do not rely on messages for this, but call me. Additionally, you can buy Tourist Permits valid for use in the majority of on and off street pay and display parking bays across the island.
