The House Next Door: In-Town Harbor Springs

The House Next Door is a vintage-chic modern cottage in the heart of Harbor Springs. Nicely designed throughout, perfect for staying in or to be your home base for endless local activities, many without getting in your car. 8 minute walk to waterfront, restaurants and shopping. Minutes from hiking, biking, beaches. 10 minute drive to ski/golf resorts. A block back from the bluff, close to the hustle of our busy resort town but separated enough for peace and quiet and sounds of nature. The space We lovingly call our little getaway "The House Next Door." Our family cottage is the house next to this one, and when we bought this as a guest house, it naturally came to be referred to as "the house next door." So, while we welcome guests when we're not there, The House Next Door is really a part of our second home and dear to our family. There is one master bedroom upstairs with a new queen bed, and a comfortable, new modern queen sleeper sofa in the living room that sleeps 2. Sleeping surfaces all brand new in 2021. There is a full bath on each floor (bathtub upstairs, shower downstairs). Our guests enjoy access to a private 1/2 acre meadow just outside with a view of the harbor, fire pit, swing, hammock and a canopy of stars. Also quite often a family of deer and the occasional red fox and bald eagle flying overhead. Speaking of animals, we allow **ONE DOG under 40 lbs.** If you do plan to bring your dog, please note it in your reservation. Our dog rules are: --Dog must be contained if left in the house alone. --Not allowed on any furniture or bedding. --Must be leashed outside, and please clean up messes on the property and around the neighborhood. PET FEES: We purposely do NOT charge pet fees or extra cleaning fees, as we feel we should give benefit of the doubt to responsible pet owners. HOWEVER, if there is evidence that policies have been broken (e.g., signs of pets on furniture or bedding, including hair, dirt, paw prints, etc.) we will assess an extra cleaning fee of minimum $100 that will be processed through Airbnb. *PLEASE NOTE ABOUT PETS* : If you plan to bring your dog, please include her/him in your reservation AND confirm in a written message that you have read and agree to our pet policy. There is NO central air conditioning, which is almost never needed in Harbor Springs. There IS a window AC unit in the upstairs master bedroom which works well for sleeping on the warmer summer nights. Otherwise, good cross drafts, Lake Michigan breezes and shade keep the house pretty cool if you keep the windows open. We also have good fans that will keep the air moving if needed. The home is decorated with vintage pieces and artwork, and has a modern, well-equipped kitchen for cooking and staying in. Dining area and counter seating in the kitchen. Large rear deck with seating (in the summer) and gas grill, sunny in the morning for coffee outside. Living room with wood-burning fireplace. Wifi, Bluetooth stereo system and Smart TV to log into your favorite streaming services. NOTE: SUNDAYS are blocked from check-ins, but exceptions are possible depending on the rest of our schedule - please send a private note to ask if you want to arrive on a Sunday. You'll also have access to a 1/2 acre meadow just across the street, with fire pit, picnic table, and a canopy of stars. (The meadow and parking area may at times be a shared space if either we or close friends or family happen to be staying in the main cottage next door during your visit.)
