Description
Located in the Historic District of Burton, Ohio & the Heart of Geauga's Amish country, perfect for a reunion or getaway weekend. 32 miles east of Cleveland, easy access to major highways. Children 3 & under are FREE. See Other Amenities, and The Neighborhood for more details to make your stay special. Don't forget to ask about "no-charge" early check-in & late check-out times if available! There is a generator so even if the power goes out, the house has electricity, hot & cold water always! The space The Jaques house was once a carriage house / barn in the mid-1800's for the home next door. It was turned into a house in 1870 by Edward Porter Jaques and his wife Sarah. He was a local Cooper from Connecticut who had a business Building barrels and buckets for agriculture and the Maple industry. Riddled with termites, and nearly falling down, Jim & Jill renovated it in 2015. You can still see one of the exposed Hand-hewn beams in the kitchen and dining room area. Guest access There is a coded door lock and a security system with a personalized guest code. Other things to note The house has smart TV and is equipped with a stand by generator. City water and sewer make this an uninterrupted trip in case of inclement weather. Jill is a past President of the Geauga Tourism so she is happy to map out a local winery, a great fishing spot, or winter sporting fun.
