Country cottage with mountain views

Minnalong Cottage This lovely one-bedroom, private cottage is set on a working horse property. It is perfect for a couple's getaway or single traveller to explore the beautiful Hunter Valley. It is conveniently situated for a self-guided tour of the Hunter Valley vineyards including Pokolbin, Wollombi and Broke. It is located at the base of the Watagan Mountains, with easy access for bush walking, picnics or 4WDing. Newcastle and beaches are 45 minutes drive away and Port Stephens 1 hour. The space The cottage is approximately 20m away from our main house but private and fully self-contained. There is one bedroom with a queen bed, bathroom, lounge room, full kitchen and an internal laundry room available for your use. The private garden edges onto paddocks. Kangaroos often graze in the paddocks and occasionally in the garden. You are welcome to pat the horses and feed them carrots (they will love it!) and we often have foals in spring and early summer. There is a fully equipped kitchen which is supplied with basics such as tea, coffee, milk, breakfast cereals and condiments. It is designed to be self catering but let us know if you have any special requirements. Guest access BY CAR Undercover parking for one car is available next to the cottage and space to park more cars or a caravan or trailer. A car is essential as this is a rural property but access is easy and we are located 10 minutes from both the M1 and Hunter freeways. Groceries, pubs and takeaway food are available in Kurri Kurri (15 minute drive), Cessnock (20 mins) and Toronto (20 mins). FOR WALKERS If you are walking the Great North Walk and feel like a night off when you reach 'The Gap' at Freeman's Waterhole, we are happy to assist. A nice comfy bed and a hot shower may reinvigorate you. We can pick you up in the afternoon and drop you back in the morning. We can also get in extra food for you. Just ask. INTERNATIONAL GUESTS For international guests we are happy to provide groceries and fresh food on request and at cost. Or take a supermarket delivery from Coles or Woolworths who both deliver to our area. Other things to note MID WEEK DISCOUNTS We can offer mid week multi-day discounts for the 3 days of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, so ask us before booking. LONGER STAYS Ask us about longer stays of up to 2 weeks. Discounts apply. EASY ACCESS We have ramp access and grab rails in the bathroom. It should be no problem for wheelchair access, however please let us know what your accessibility requirements are so we can ensure we can meet your needs. The garden is not fully fenced and so not suitable for dogs. THINGS TO DO - Whale watching We partner with local whale watching expeditions, Coast XP who operate out of Newcastle. Whale watching season is from June through to September. Minnalong guests receive a 15% discount on cruises. See information in photos. THINGS TO DO - Alpaca farm tours Adore Alpacas offer the 'Alpaca' experience on their farm just 2 minutes from us - a chance to meet and interact with their adorable animals. Nigel and Liz offer personal tours by appointment. Ask us for contact details to pre-book your experience. EV CHARGING - there is a handy regular power point in the carport for slow overnight EV charging. (this is NOT an EV fast charge) A standard fee of $10 per overnight charge applies.
