Kyoto Arashiyama "Hanare" araka-tanaka was registered as "Kyoto Important Landscape Architectural Monuments". It is a traditional Japanese 'Kyo-Machiya' located in scenic Arashiyama, on the west side of Kyoto. The train station (JR Saga Arashiyama Sta. 5min walk away) is from there it's 12-17 minutes to JR Kyoto Station. Arashiyama is with its beautiful scenery, the Hozu and Ooi Rivers with its romantic 'Moon-Crossing Bridge Togetsukyo,' the bamboo grove, etc... The space The Arashiyama "Hanare" araka-tanaka was built before 1935 and was completely restored. The restoration was a labor of love, requiring the participation of artisans specializing in traditional carpentry techniques and using natural materials in all areas, both inside and out. Great efforts were made to recreate an atmosphere allowing guests to experience traditional living. An added modern touch for comfort is the luxurious bathing area and bathroom...where you can soak in the oversized tub while gazing at the Zen garden after a full day of sightseeing. The Arashiyama "Hanare" araka-tanaka is just behind the main house but has an independent entrance it is rented as an entire townhouse of "Hanare" , and accommodations are entirely separated. Near the entrance is the original old Japanese-style kitchen with basic cooking facilities. The kitchen floor is made of 'tataki,' a traditional mixture of 'shikkui' and soil. There are two tatami rooms, one with 3 mats and the other with 6 mats. Two guests can be accommodated on futons, which can be placed on the floor of either room. The Arashiyama "hanare" araka-tanaka shares a 'Zen garden' called Nakaniwa with the main house. The owners live in the main house. During your stay, you can keep privacy since the owner closes all sliding doors on the Zen garden side. The owners speak English and are happy to assist. One of the owners is an 'Ikebana' master, and flower arrangements will welcome guests upon arrival. The Arashiyama "hanare" araka-tanaka is located in a quiet strict residential area. Lodging operations are prohibited in this area to preserve the authentic Kyoto lifestyle. However, the government gave the Arashiyama "hanare" araka-tanaka special permission to allow tourists to stay overnight only for 180 days a year for preservation purposes. Therefore, we recommend making your reservation as early as possible, as it will no longer be possible to make a reservation once 180 days of the year have been booked. Other things to note Per Japan law, I need to collect the following information from you after booking. 1) Your occupation 2) Your home address 3) Your mobile phone number 4) A page with all guests' passport photos and numbers Giving those advance informations will be smoth at the check-in and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation in these government procedures and Once we receive all 4 items listed above, I will send you the check-in instructions. Airbnb automatically shows this place as “self check-in” since we use a keypad, but due to local regulations, we normally meet guests in person at check-in. Housekeeping or cleaning is not provided during your stay. The house will be cleaned by our professional cleaners only prior to your check in and after check out.
