The Willows - Cattleman's Log Hut

The Cattleman's Log Hut is a comfortable & rustic cabin with a wood burning fire, simple kitchen & living area, 1 double bed, 1 single bed, & an outdoor toilet & bathroom. We're near the Alpine National Park in a ruggedly beautiful part of the High Country. There is no TV, and mobile reception is patchy or non existent. However with fishing, walking & cycling opportunities galore, you'll want to ditch your phone and immerse yourself in nature. There is no electricity in the log hut! The space This hut is an authentic High Country Cattleman's Hut that was built in 1904. As such, it's simple, rustic and low on contemporary creature comforts — which is part of its charm. So, if you're into outdoor life, wood burners, gas lights, camp fires and are happy using an outdoor bathroom, then you're going to love staying here. It really is the perfect place to leave the modern world behind for a slice of traditional High Country life. The Cattleman's Hut does not have a fridge so we recommend that you bring along your own esky. The hut has a gas fired stove and we will provide gas bottles for your use. We can also provide solar powered lighting for the hut at night. Guest access The Cattleman's Hut is located just down the hill from the main house where we live. We have a beautiful garden, veggie patch, campfire area, BBQ, washing line and big verandah (perfect for evening beers) at the main house — all of which you're welcome to access and enjoy. However, you also have access to a BBQ/campfire area next to the Cattleman's Hut and you're also a stones throw from the river so be sure to bring your bathers! Other things to note We have a number of animals on the property - and pet dogs come and go all the time. We've got a small flock of guinea fowl that like to nosey around outside the main house and occasionally the guesthouse, and we've got a mob of horses that live in the paddocks nearby. We've also got some lovely wildlife, especially kangaroos,on the doorstep too. So, if you love animals and enjoy nature you're going to like staying with us.
